I’m wondering how misoprostyl (cervix opener) compares to contractions. I took misoprostyl in suppository form before having a uterine polyp removed and it was pretty painful. I wonder how that compares to contractions since it seems as though they basically do the same thing? I’d be interested in hearing if anyone knows!

sparklesbelle : I didn’t take it, but cervical ripening and contractions aren’t the same thing, that’s why you take the cervical ripening drugs before the pitocin – you don’t want to tell your uterus to bang against a locked door! Also plenty of women walk around partially dilated for weeks without realizing it before going into active labor.
Contractions basically felt like really bad period cramps to me, but with a break – because between the contractions it doesn’t hurt at all.
