Wow, that sounds REALLY extreme after googling it… Was that under the guidance and care of a physician?

I’ve never heard of this….but very interesting!

Did you get the HCG from a physician or online? When do you take the HCG?

“it actually prevents me from being hungry and I feel satisfied only consuming 500-1,200 calories per day.”

How si that safe?! If you eat 500 calories a day that’s like, anorexia caloric intakes!

Coffee for breakfast? No food?! How is this safe?

I’m surprised this diet is still out there. It’s a very unhealthy diet that I tried a long time ago. I was really sick by the 3rd week and when I saw my family Dr. (I didn’t bother to check with him beforehand) he pretty much told me that the injections(that’s how it was taken many years ago) had nothing to do with anything. Anyone following a strict, under 1000 calorie diet will lose weight. Another stupid move I made when I was in my 20’s. lol

A blogger I follow is doing this diet and she chronicles her success here: http://www.fat2fitmommy.com/

She’s done pretty well with it, though has expressed her frustrations via the blog.  I don’t know that I have the dedication necessary to do that.

Wow, strange! I’ve heard of calorie restriction through optimal nutrition- but thats healthy and balanced and takes 1 to 2 years to perfect. Not 21 days.

Since my best friend died from an eating disorder… or should I say, complications from an eating disorder… these kinds of restrictions scare the living [email protected]&% out of me.  She died because her body didn’t get the proper nutrients to break down what was entering her blood stream that was designed to help her…..

By restricting your diet you loose the nutrients and ability to do even basic things like break down vitamins and chemical based drugs which can cause a heart attack…

Just some tidbits for thought…. anything where your caloric intake is restricted to under 1000 calories a day is un-healthy. And 500 is eating disorder level

@ KLP my thoughts exactly. There’s ZERO fat allowed in this diet – not even from nuts or healthy oils. I’ve never seen a diet that restricts veggies and says you can’t eat Salmon??

As someone who has suffered through an eating disorder this has danger written all over it for many people. My Dr. is pretty cool and she’s told me that Weight Watchers is pretty safe and has OK’d the South Beach Diet for anyone- basically all it says is cut out the white carb crap & eat tons more veggies.

It might be great for results now but by robbing your body of nutrients – there might be dangerous consequences down the road. You never know the damage it does in the long term. I’d def talk to a doctor or a nutritionist before doing this.

Amanda, did your doctor mention that it should be a short term solution only? If not, it’s not a very good program–go look at the food pyramid. Even if you were on a safe-diet 1200 calorie a day program, you would still need to follow the nutritional guidelines of the food pyramid, including fats and sugars. No one is trying to attack you and it’s fabulous that you’ve lost all that weight, but it is NOT a safe program for just anyone; different caloric needs for each individual means it may not work the same for others, and could make them very very sick.

Disclaimer: I’m not a doctor. Don’t take what I say as gospel–always consult your doctor before starting any sort of calorie reduction plan.
