Hi! I am thinking of getting hydrangeas for my bridesmaid bouquets but I really want them to be a light yellow! From what I’ve seen online (I’m doing DIY bouquets), I can only find white, blue, and green hydrangeas. I’m thinking of getting white hydrangeas and buying yellow floral spray from Michaels or Joanns and spraying the flowers. I’m hoping that they turn into a light yellow color. Has anyone done this? Please let me know if it worked out!! 🙂
Thanks!

Hi,
I’ve done it. It’s pretty easy, the only thing I would caution you about is maybe fininding 2 similar shades of paint, that will help the flowers look more natural. So you can paint the entire flower with the lighter shade and then lightly paint with the darker paint. Overall they end up looking pretty good. You could buy the supplies and do a test hydrangea.
Good luck!

@Linz1231: Thanks! Do you have any floral spray recommendations?

I used to work in floral design. The biggest suggestion that I have is to not spray the flowers heavily. Just a light frosting with the paint. Otherwise, your flowers will wilt and die because the paint won’t let them breath. I agree with pp about using 2 shades, it will add demention! Good luck

@MichStoker: Sure! I am actually at work, so I could look and see what we have. We use a brand from Design Masters called “Just For Flowers.” Some of the other ones are also Design Masters, called “Colortool Floral Spray.” Hope that helps!
