The today show just did a story a few days ago about an at home gel manicure set, they loved the one that they used.  It is on their blog if you want to look it up.

I just bought a kit (Sensationail) for myself last night from Walmart for 49.99. It’s amazing! Took me about 45 minutes total but as soon as I got done my nails were hard and completely set. So worth it! Looks just like a professional gel manicure. I will update and tell you all how long it lasts, but supposedly its supposed to last 2 weeks, and it certainly cured the polish just like the professionals do, so I’m assuming it will last the same amount of time. I work as a nurse and wash my hands a bazillion times a day, so if this lasts as long as they say it should, I’d be a good tester for it!

@redroses76: post pics please!

I wondered about sensationail too….it’s less than $50bucks which would save so much time & money at the salon

nope but I have redcarpet manicure or something like that and it works well imo… just make sure you do really thin strokes though. I have a tendency to have too much on my brush and then it sort of pools down the side of my nail by the skin. I didn’t fix it before the light and it ended up sort of weird.

I am typically a lurker bee who enjoys reading everyone elses opinions and advice more than giving mine… but I just HAD to log in and comment on this one!!  I, too, scowered the internet searching for reviews, youtube videos, etc of Sensationail and after reading a lot of rave reviews, and a few not so rave reviews, I took the plunge and bought the kit for $49.99 at Wal-Mart.  I have to say I LOVE IT!  I have had it on my nails for about 2-3 weeks now and I have to tell you, it was honestly one of the BEST beauty purchases I have ever made.  It makes your nails hard and durable (almost like acrylics) and shiny like glass!!  True to the advertising, I haven’t had a chip yet and I am on my second manicure.  The kit comes with everything you need- primer, base/top coat, 1 color (I think raspberry wine was the name in mine…), and the LED light that cures each coat in 30-60 seconds.   My nails now have grown out so much (because the gel makes them very hard & very strong) that they look like I had them professionally done with tips.  When I did my first manicure, I was so excited about the results that I took off the polish from a relatively recent pedicure and did my toes, too…!  LOL At first, I was like, oh I just got my toes done so I’ll just do my hands…. but then may hands looked so good, I felt like my toes didn’t look as good anymore… HAHA.  The ONLY thing that I haven’t quite mastered is the removal…..  The instructions say to soak your hands in acetone for 15 minutes after buffing off the top coat’s shine and then scrape off the gel with the little cuticle stick.  Well, that is much easier said than done!!  It probably took me 30-45 mins removing the gel last time… BUT, I turned right around and did my nails again with a new gel color so it obviously didn’t deter me that much!!!

**I have some pics on my phone that I took and sent to my friends 😉 lol… I’ll see if I can upload them on here so you can see them.

Here is the first time after I used Sensationail… (sidenote:  I am real petite so please excuse my child-sized chubby hands….LOL)

Here is the second color I tried…

And… this is a a week+ later to show you how much my nails have grown and how they kind of (at least to me) look like tips…. (*Sensational doesnt claim to help your nails “grow”… it’s just kind of an added benefit since this stuff is so hard that my nails haven’t broken all off like they usually would have by now…)

Well, there you have it bees!! Hope my review helps!!
