So I don’t wear a lot of makeup but when I do I’ll admit I’ll spend a good $200 and buy high end makeup.
I ran out of primer the other day and I really didn’t have the time (or money) to stop in the makeup store and plop down $50 on primer.
So while I was at the grocery store I picked up that new Almay Color Correcting primer. Since I had use a couple of their products before I thought I’d give it a try.
OH MY GOD IT WAS HORRIBLE! Primer wise it’s decent. It doesn’t really color correct anything but a little bit goes a long way, it goes on smooth, and it seems to last. But the smell is quite possibly the worst ever..and this is coming from someone who works with animals(dirty, abused, dead, sick, etc.) so smells do not bother me.
It smelled like a 7th grade science lab on dissection day mixed with stale urine and moldy fruit.
As I said, primer wise it’s decent for a cheap primer but it doesn’t correct color and I can’t bare to put something on my face that smells so incredibly bad.

I have not used almays but I love revlon’s primer, I have both the color corrective and the perfecting primer. I use the color corrective more because I have freckles so I have random redness. I recommend that and it is also like 7 bucks.

Yeah I’ll definitely have to look into that. Like I said I don’t wear makeup a lot so I rarely have to make trips to a drugstore to pick something up but it’d be nice to have something like primer on hand if I’m out of my regular stuff.
I just can’t believe they are selling something that smells that horrific. I threw it away after one use because it was all I could do not to throw up when I put it on my face.

I use it it works alright!

I have not used Almay but I do recommend Palladio Herbal Primer (at Ulta or Sally) or Hard Candy Primer (at Wal Mart).

I’m not crazy about Almay. I tried the new Smary Shade makeup and it make me look like and Oompa Loompa.

As a primer it works fine. If it weren’t for the smell I wouldn’t mind it as a back up.
Does the smell not bother you?
Or idk maybe I just got a bad product and something went wrong when they made it?

@SweetHoneyBee: It could be expired.

A while back, Miss (Mrs.?) Rainbow recommended Monistat Chafing Gel as a primer, and said it was very similar to Makeup Forever’s or one of the other high end brands’ primer. I used it on that recommendation and have to say I love it- its smooth, little to no smell, works really well. And cheap. So if you are looking for something new that could be worth a try.
I also highly recommend a BB cream as a replacement for a primer- I rarely ever use foundation anymore because the BB cream I use (Dr. Jart available at Sephora) works as both primer and tinted moisturizer that gives me enough coverage. But it can also be used as a primer under foundation because it feels very light. I think Garnier just started selling a BB cream at drugstores if you aren’t looking to spend a lot.

I don’t find it smells that bad it smells like foundation IMO! I don’t find it colour corrects all that well but it does brighten your skin.
