@SoNLoveWithHim:  a lot of my girls have been with their bf’s longer than Fiance and I, and so sometimes it goes that way for you too – the girl will look quickly, say pretty, whatever, but the guys are examining closely, thinking bout their own future purchases!  One of my BM’s BF’s asked Fiance for our jeweler’s card! wish I could tell her!

I have noticed that men, especially married men, are far more interested in my ring than women are in terms of really examining it and asking questions about it. I think it could be because, more often than not, men are the ones buying the ring and dealing with jewelers so they kind of have an idea of what specs mean, prices, etc.

@SoNLoveWithHim:  I’ve gotten that from guys and girls, but mostly guys. The only girls who’ve done that worked in the jewelry industry and it made me a little uncomfortable. When I first got engaged I actually had a co-worker pull on the diamond/setting and comment that it was a good setting. People are weird!

No… Honestly I havent really had any guys particularly interested in looking at my ring, haha. Maybe my dad and Father-In-Law, but thats about it.

Yes, it does happen to me. More women than men, but both. At first it made me feel awkward (I think I even made a thread about it) but even though I don’t know exactly why they do that I’ve decided to enjoy the experience when it happens (after all, I’m very very proud of the ring… Fiance designed it himself, so if they are interested, then great!)

I haven’t.  I would probably yank my hand away if someone tried to do that, because I’m weird about people I don’t know well touching me.

The only reason I can come up with is that perhaps they had examined engagement rings for their ladies in a jewelry store in the past, and they figure they are “experts” on what they’re looking at. Wink

Strangers say how beautiful it is all the time, and have had three acquaintances and one friend closely examine. It is moissanite and sparkly as hell so that might be why haha

I have had both men and women do this to me. And the only thing I could ever conclude is that they were looking for inclusions. And I always wanted to just say ummm… you aren’t going to find anything wrong with it. lol. People are just weird. Period.

Mostly men ask and want to hold it to look at it closer and etc! Only 1 stranger and 1 friend has been genuinely “wowed” by my ring.
