Which crib are you looking for?  I noticed that Walmart has a lot of the same cribs for a lot cheaper (and Free or 97 shipping to home!).

@roxy821:  Oh my gosh. That is horrible. We did the same deal (free mattress of $125 or more with purchase of the crib back in June, too. Then we used a 20% off coupon to order the dresser the following week. Both came in within the last few weeks (our dresser was on backorder). So I didn’t have any trouble. Your situation is awful. Did you talk to management? I mean, this isn’t right. You shouldn’t have to start at the bottom of a “first come, first serve” basis, since you attempted to order a month ago. I don’t get it. Have to talked to somebody there in person or only over the phone? Which set is it? Can you get it online on Amazon or somewhere else perhaps? Sorry you are going through this. I would go down there myself and raise hell! 🙂

Edit: I just realized I said it wrong. I said free mattress, but it was 25% off the crib (which essentially meant our mattress was free)

@roxy821:  Haha “I’m not too proud of lol, but I told my daddy.” Love it. Sometimes dad’s just need to be involved 🙂 My dad is my go-to on anything relating to cars and taxes, I swear he can fix any issue.

Sorry you’re having a hard time with Babies R Us though, good luck getting things settled!

@roxy821:  Oh wow, we looked at the Baby Cache Espresso, but ended up picking a different set. I know PeasInAPod got the Baby Cache, too, I believe. I hope your dad can raise hell and get this straightend out! Sorry you have to deal with such crappy customer service!!

You may have already been through this but…do they have one in stock at another store?  We found a babi italia crib we loved online, and were told it was in stock 45 min away.  We drove to that store and nope, they don’t have it….but they did offer to order it online for us with the insane shipping charges.  Um, no thanks.  We had them call every store in our state until we found one with the crib guaranteed in stock.  We drove an  hour and 45 minutes to get it that day.

I would recommend checking all the stores in your area.  For the savings, it’s worth a drive!

And yes, I feel your frustration with BRU!!!

I had this same thing happen at Ikea with a piece of the desk that I was buying.  They were out of stock of that one piece.  They couldn’t order it there in the store nor was it sold online.  They had another shippment come in but you couldn’t put one on hold because their computer system wouldn’t allow you to hold an item that they hadn’t received yet.

I completely understand your frustration!  I think this is part of the problem with big companies.  NO more customer service!

I hate BRU and decided to boycott recently when I realized that for returns on items that were clearly from their store, and even some on my registry, I was getting a FRACTION of the money back without the receipt. This didn’t phase me TOO much until I went to Buy Buy Baby and they returned a diaper sprayer I bought and even tried to set up (failed and almost broke our toilet!) without a receipt and they took it back not only full price but also right back onto our card, not even store credit. I literally haven’t gone to BRU since and plan on only shopping at Buy Buy Baby. I don’t care if it’s a litle pricier. It’s worth it to me. They also have more options. I’d recommend shopping there- that’s ridiculous about the crib. BRU is awful. I really regret registering there!

@roxy821:  When I worked at TRU/BRU in collegeI found that all the managers would put things aside for themselves or friends in the stock room (especially around Christmas, which was a nightmare Undecided). Since you have an in with a manager I’d ask them if you can fill out an item hold slip in advance and when one comes into their store they can just slap it on the crib until you can come get it. Believe me when I say it’s the corporation and not the workers that make every process like pulling teeth, it’s a pretty inefficient organization that s hell bent on keeping your money (for example,  never buy the warranties! The staff are forced to sell a certain number an hour and are told outrageous things about how to sell them- if you ever had an actual problem it wouldn’t be covered 99% of the time because it does  not cover “acts of God”).

I hope your get your crib!
