I agree with you OP I don’t like flowers either. So hearing bees’ advice and answers to your question gives me ideas and perspective on how to go on with this. Neat ideas ladies!!
If I didn’t want flowers in my wedding I’d probably let my Bridesmaid or Best Man walk with just their partners or with candles maybe? Hmm…lavender scented ones and cinnamon….ooh.. But the hard part is walking down without blowing them out….well…that was just a thought. Probably a dumb idea. Or maybe small picture frames of the bride and the groom together. Ooh nice idea. Or just small bouquets. Fake or real.
More ideas are coming. 🙂

We went to one where bridesmaids carried boxes and inside were wishes and promises the bride and groom wrote to each other or that the bridesmaid wrote to the couple. The bridesmaids read them instead of doing a traditional reading.

I think little ribbon sticks would be cute. They could either have one stick with a bunch of ribbons or a little bunch of them. It kind of ties into the May wedding as well, since the sticks are like miniature Maypoles.

heyitsnicolelee: Like the idea of the beaded bouquets posted by mrsrothesome: Kind of magic wands, lol. You may be able to get pearl sprays or picks from a craft or florist site.

Two of my friends didn’t like flowers. One did parasols, the other did laterns. I really liked the parasols because they were so fun for pictures! The laterns were a bit more cluncky, but that was because the bride just said “get a latern” and they were all so different they didn’t look good together. I got one from hobby lobby that I would call old fasion, and another Bridesmaid or Best Man brought a camping lantern, and a third got a victorian type lantern.
What ever you pick, just make sure everyone uniformly knows how to hold them. Best to decide during rehersal.

those flower wands that flower girls carry sometimes can also be carried by bridesmaids. would be very pretty for a cinderella wedding.
That or hunt through antique shops and find different glass shoes and attach the bottoms of them on pillows and have them carry it down. would mean more work but it is seriously surprising what stuff you can find at antique shops!!!

My girls carried purses, they loved it and I’ve seen them use them many time since.
This is my 12 year old niece and I, I know she tall!

They should carry bottles of vodka 🙂

I always loved the idea of a brooch bouquet! They can be totally personalized to the bride and the relationship to each bridesmaid. They never die and can double as the gift to your bridesmaids to remember your day by!

My bridemaids carried lanterns like what MrsGAM: posted but in white. It went with our theme of candlelight.

I was in this wedding where we carried the clutches that the bride got us as gifts in lieu of flowers.
