@Jamersss – I agree with Tiffmorris, I think the slight difference you might see is the angle at which you were standing. I know close to nothing about photography but I’m sure the lighting has something to do with it too. But with that out of the way, I know you are upset about spending all that money for a dress but I will say it’s a gorgeous dress! I think it looked awesome on you! I hope I look that good on my day!

I think you looked BEAUTIFUL and I love your dress! But I feel like a girl should always feel great when looking at pictures.. why dont you and your hubby go get more photos done.. as if it was an engagement shoot again with your dress on? Wedding pictures are so important, maybe you could get your dress taken in to look like the salon one before you go

I think you looked great!
Honestly, I would NOT base anything off of the non-pro pictures taken by your guests. Out of all the non-pro pictures we’ve seen from our guests, I think I only like 1 (if that). Your guests are not professional photographer and don’t know anything about lighting/angles/etc. and cell phone/point and shoot cameras can only do so much. We saw a few from our photographer and they seriously look much better.
This is why we told our guests that this is an unplugged wedding, which at least cut down on the photos from the ceremony. I had to police FB afterwards and actually asked some people to take one or two of the worse/most unflattering down. When I think a photo of a bride that I look doesn’t look that great (e.g. eyes partially shut, double-chin, etc.), I don’t post it but apparently, not all of our guests felt the same way.

@Jamersss: For what it’s worth, I think you look good. Seriously. I am not just saying that to calm you down.

@Jamersss: I agree with PPs. I think the major difference you’re noticing is the different angles that the photos are taken at. I know that my body shape looks way different from the front than it does from the side.

I’m sure you’ll love the pro photos when they come in!

Are those your pro pics? If not, and you have the professional pictures still to come in, hang in there. I look dreadful in most of the guest photos from our wedding, and my ugly nose and weird, flat face look pretty bad in a few of the pro pics (see? we all have body image issues).
But, there are enough great pictures in the pro pics that I’m happy, and feel much better about how I looked that day. Plus, everyone else seems to think I looked great – so who am I to argue? 🙂

This is my worst fear! I hate seeing myself in pictures and I don’t want to cringe when I see pics of myself on my wedding day—but even if you HATE the pics you can always pic the best ones and have them photoshopped
Not that you look bad, just sayin

@Jamersss: We’re all over critical of ourselves, I think you look great! 🙂

@Jamersss: If you felt happy on that day, you definitely looked beautiful. I honestly think that the second dress makes you look smaller at the waist, since on the first pic at the salon, you have a bunch of fabric behind you that seem to make your skirt puffier. Could it be a visual effect? I think so.

It’s the lighting and the angle. I hate candid pictures, because I’m always leaning weird and don’t realize it until I look at the pictures after. It’s not you! 🙂 You’re lovely!

I feel like that too sometimes while looking at my wedding pics, but everyone insists I was beautiful. Judging from the pics, you were too!

I hate how I looked, too. My dress didn’t fit correctly, my hair was all wrong, and my makeup was too much. And by the time I realized that it was all wrong, it was too close to the ceremony to redo. But the photographer really did a great job, and I don’t hate *all* the pictures with me in them.
