The stones I own/have owned were too yellow for my taste. I also don’t care for the double refraction. I like to see clear hearts and arrows. I have a band with melee, it’s fine, but it was only slightly less expensive than a diamond band. In that case, the metal is what costs the most anyway, the tiny diamonds or moissy are neglible really.
I am a big fan of CZ though!

Honestly never knew about Moissy or Asha till this board! Now I love them and wish I knew when DH was thinking about rings. That said, I want a pair of Moissy stud earrings. I’m not a big jewelry person and always lose earrings and I don’t think I could stomach paying the price for diamond studs; so this will be our route! I’m hoping for some on our anniversary in July. 😉

Your poll question says “How do you feel about moissanites?” which does not indicate that the voter has to own one to vote (same with your thread title). So I suspect you are getting peoples opinions about it, no matter if they own one or not.

Yes, the poll options call for anyone to vote, not just moissanite owners. Personally I have and love both. I have a diamond ering and round moissanite stud earrings. They are different looks. Diamond is crisper, while moissanite has a kind of glow due to the double refraction.
I do prefer moissanite in rounds though as fancy shapes tend to show more color. I ordered a pair of oval moissanite earrings and returned them because the stones were mint green!

I adore my moissy e-ring. It is a 2.2 carat equivalent cushion.
I’ll buy a moissy wedding band as well. It sometimes looks faintly yellow, it sometimes looks faintly green, and sometimes it’s completely white. I don’t care because it’s what it’s supposed to look like. I expected it. It’s not a diamond simulant.
I wouldn’t recommend buying one if what you really want is something that looks like a diamond. It definitely passes for one, but if you know what you’re looking at you can tell that it’s not a diamond (esp. if you stare at it all day like I do!!). I know that you can have them enhanced and it looks much whiter, but I’ve heard that enhancing will affect your warranty with C&C.
I would never spend money on a diamond knowing the ethical issues that come with them. Before my Fiance and I started talking about rings and I started lurking on weddingbee I was sure I wanted a diamond. I’m entirely converted now. My moissy is absolutely gorgeous, I don’t think I could be more happy.

I’m not much help either because I have a moissy eternity band as my dual-purpose engagement/wedding band and I love it. The stones are enhanced and they never look anything but white, quite comparable to an F diamond stone that I have. However, they are sparkly (which I love but others may not like the double refraction) so that does need to be taken into consideration by others before making a decision to purchase.
I have seen on other boards some feedback that others didn’t like the colour, or the double refraction. It seems that some stones can really appear greyish, or green or whatever, depending on cloudy days and other circumstances.
As for the cost of moissy as a lab created stone mentioned above, that really played no part for me. Yes, I feel like the smartest girl in the world for getting a ring that I love and was less expensive than the usual alternatives….but the love came first. Monetary value is arbitrary at best, and market pricing for stones of all kinds has more to do with availability and demand than the true properties of the stone.

Ooooh do you have a pic?? I love any cushions I can feast my eyes on!

Well as far as my reasons, I chose my Asha because it looks more like a natural diamond and looked better in my setting (a diamond halo). So if it hadn’t been for my setting that I LOVE being diamond I may have chosen Moissy. I just didn’t feel like they looked right together. I love how it looks and I love knowing that we didn’t spend a huge chunk of money on it. It hasn’t clouded up at all (though I’ve only had it for a year), but I do clean it weekly just as I would any other ring. 🙂 But so far so good! It does have a diamond coating on it, which I’m assuming helps/sets it apart from other CZs.

I loveeee my moissy. I have a diamond ring. And it makes me sad to wear it. My moissy makes good convo as well.

Ooooh yes-I saw that once before, still drooling! What a beautiful cushion! I have a rectangular and yours makes me wish for square!

I absolutely love my moissy. Its a mira (now known as amora i believe), and it never has a green tinge and only slightly if ever does it have a slight warmth to it. Other than that it is the most brilliant & sparkly thing i have ever laid my eyes on!
I have had it for 3.5 months now and i think i love it more everyday (i probably look at my ring and adore it about 100x each day!) I used to think i was a diamond girl and now i wouldnt change it for the world 🙂

& @Over the Moon:
You both are right, I should have clarified in my post and poll, that I wanted people who have seen moissanites (in person) to vote.
Love your ring!!! pretty and sparkly!!! I love bling.
Your ring is sooo beautiful!! love the details.
Thanks everyone for your input, I’m thinkng there must be more positives to moissanites than negatives. Atleast, that is what it seems from everything I’ve read from my research so far. Plus, the new Amora H&A gem seems to fix most of these negatives.
