This has nothing to do with my photographer’s abilities. In fact, I think the actual pictures are amazing, I just hate how I look in them. I have always been insecure about my “sideburns”. I tried lasering but it didn’t help much. I got my e-pics today and it was all I could see (along with my arms, which somehow got fatter since going to the gym). Please tell me I’m overreacting because I don’t want to show these to ANYONE I know. 🙁

@newcitylights: I honestly think they are beautiful! I did not notice any “sideburns” or fat arms at all. I think that we truly are our own worst critics. We received or E-pics yesterday and I have only showed them to my mom and fiance. I cried when I got them because I have insecurities also and was too embarrassed to show anyone because I have put on way more weight than I am happy with. Your post has actually helped me…because I think you are nuts to be unhappy with these!!! You look GREAT!! So maybe I am nuts too, and others will think I look all right in mine also. Truly though, they are bautiful!

@newcitylights: I honestly wouldn’t have thought twice about them had you not pointed them out, but now that you have I honestly have nothing negative to say about them. I am not focusing on sideburns or anything of that nature. When I see engagement pics, I focus on the happiness of the couple, the artistic side of the photos, and the poses.
I want to add, however, that if you are truly bothered by them they could always be photoshopped out.

I truly think you look absolutely beautiful.
You’re a classic beauty, miss.
But I can totally relate. Some of my family members think I’m nuts for it, but I actually wax my own sideburns.
Did it for our wedding too.
I wouldn’t worry about you not looking beautiful in these photos because you honestly do – but if it bothers you that much, maybe you can consider your engagement photos as a good trial run so you can maybe wax them for your wedding day?
(But again, you look really, really great.)

I didn’t notice the “sideburns” until you pointed them out. I have to ask, though.. why would you pick the one hairdo that draws the most attention to them? If they bother you, I’d suggest wearing your hair down… that’ll cover them more. This is what engagement photos are for, though… testing the waters so wedding photography is a lot smoother.
You don’t look bad at all.

Thank you bees, your kind comments mean so much. I guess I’ll have to stop being so hard on myself. I’m definitely going to get them waxed for the wedding day, and I just booked an appointment with the laser removal place to start up the treatments again. Thank you for the compliments! They’re quite humbling.

@canarydiamond: +100. OP I think you look gorgeous, but I also wonder why you chose this hairstyle given your insecurity with the sideburns…

Please don´t think negative you look great!!! …Forget that “perfection” than the magazzines and fashion industry want to impose, you look better than super skinny models. We are real womens, you should be happy .

I didn’t read what you wrote at first. First I looked at the pictures, I would have never noticed the “side burns” without you saything anything BUT i will say I can relate. I have a hairy face and I am insecure about it!!

I love the last pic, there’s a great sense of connection between you and your Fiance.

You are stunning. These pictures are amazing! Stop worrying 🙂

Because I liked the hairstyle? And in person, it didn’t look this bad.

You look gorgeous and, like others, I would not have noticed the “sideburns” if you hadn’t pointed them out.
Have them Photoshopped out of the photos you use; that’s easy!
Choose a different hairstyle for your wedding that doesn’t draw attention to that area.
You have a truly beautiful smile. Be sure to smile a lot on your wedding day!

@newcitylights: I really love the third pic – it is magical and mysterious.
