They should fix that work for free to your satisfaction – it is clearly not as designed.

As designed, the ends of the twists should meet with a separate link to the stone. Yours doesn’t do this. You shouldn’t have to spend any more money to have it rectified to the final design ordered.

Also, the metal work is a lot chunkier and thicker than the ordered design. I don’t know anything about Jared – but I wouldn’t be happy with this either (compared to what you ordered) and would either ask for it to be fixed properly or my money back.

It is the problem with buying online and not seeing at least a wax/acrylic model of the final design, but still not excuse for shoddy work.

I can see why you’re disappointed. Tbh, Jared isn’t known for quality craftsmanship.  Can you return the ring?  I would and start over with a jeweler that can. David Klass comes to mind and can definitely execute what you have in mind with far better quality too.

Oh man, I would complain long and loud if they don’t offer to fix it for free or refund your money. Contact the BBB if they don’t. That is absolutely not what you ordered and paid good money for. I would call them or contact them by email like…yesterday. Show pictures. Be very clear that it is not what you ordered. They must have something as part of the custom ring fine writing that guarantees that their product should match the design? Look for that and copy paste it. Sorry this happened. What a bummer.

throughthelookingglass87 :   This +1000000.  I would raise such a stink they would beg me to take a refund. If they refuse to refund, use social media of all forms, email the CEO, etc.  This is your fiancé’s hard earn money and OP, you deserve to get exactly what you want

ellebelle1 :  They will likely argue custom making it ineligible for returns and want “fix it”, but I wouldn’t allow them to work on it or make another attempt. That will definitely ensure you won’t have a refund option at all.

I’m sorry this happened to you.  The problem is you went to Jared.  Mall stores (Jared, Kay, etc.) are known for selling subpar diamonds and cheap settings at over inflated prices.  If it is at all possible to return the ring and go somewhere more reputable (try websites like James Allen, Whiteflash, Brian Gavin, BlueNile or even a reputable local independently owned jeweler), that is what I would recommend.  GL

I think part of the problem is that you tried to fit in too many design elements and they aren’t skilled enough to make it work.

If anything, I would try to get something from Jared and go to a better jeweler.

Or worst case, take the ring and use the diamonds in a new setting from a better jeweler.

ellebelle1 :  The channel setting of the twist is obviously thicker than you ordered. The photo is obvious proof. Agree with PPs-  Make sure you read the fine print and find out what the return policy is on custom designs and demand they fix it free of charge. If they won’t do it, or if you don’t trust them to fix it, get a refund if possible and take your business to a good jeweler who will make you a quality custom design.

Normally when people post these threads I can barely see what they’re talking about. In your case, I opened the thread and thought, “Oh I don’t like that at all” – then I saw the pix of what you were going for and realized I actually really liked the design you chose, and they gave you something totally different. The scale is just so off, it really does mar the whole ring. Definitely complain until they give you a refund, and go somewhere else to get it made. If they absolutely refuse, I’d keep the three-stone part and have a reputable jeweler replace the shank with something much daintier. I’m sorry bee, this is a bummer.

They did not deliver what you ordered. If Jared won’t accept the return, call your credit card company and have them reverse the charge and facilitate the return of the ring. Do it immediately. Don’t accept anything less – Jared is crap.

I wonder. Did you go with smaller stones irl than you had in the design? Because the stones look smaller & that might be why they ended up doing a thicker metal band?

ellebelle1 :  yikes…so much for quality control. I can’t believe they even let that out of their facility…I’d raise some hell about this one, bee…do NOT let them off the hook for this. You’ll be doing yourself AND future customers a huge service if you make them refund you for this.

Custom or not, they did NOT provide the design you ordered. Fix or refund if you ask me!
