I’m so sorry you’re disappointed!! Can we see the ring please? Who told you it can be returned, and why has that changed? I love rubies and it’s especially sad to me that you can’t wear yours. 🙁

TrueLove407:  Oh I’m sooo sorry! I remember you asking about the pavé halo ring. Most pavé is super thin if it’s just 1 row so this is something your jeweler should have told you. If you were told that you would be able to exchange it, and now they’re saying you can’t, this is something you need to tell your jeweler (again, if you have already). Was it the jeweler himself who told you this or was it someone who worked there? Either way, this needs to be addressed. Not everybody likes confrontation, including me, but I would honestly go back in and be firm and tell them that your husband ordered this ring for you under the pretense that he could return it if you weren’t happy with it. If they care at all about customer service, they will make it right. Can you upload a pic? What some jewelers say can’t be done, other jewelers will say it is totally possible. So if you are forced to keep this ring and do away with your current jeweler, there could still be hope. Always get second, third and even fourth opinions!!!

TrueLove407:  Just saw your post that your Darling Husband told you it could be exchanged but have you asked him if he actually asked someone about this? If they did tell him that then it is totally their fault. If not, like I said, there may be a way for another jeweler to modify it for you. Have you thought about adding bands or an enhancer on either side in the future to make the shank thicker?

TrueLove407:  Why does this jeweler consider this a custom setting if it came from a catalogue? Am I missing something? It seems like an easy enough fix to remove the stone and return the setting where it could be used for someone else. Is it possible to exchange the setting for something that you are able to wear? I haven’t read your previous posts about this ring, so I’m sorry if I’m asking silly questions.

It is very pretty from the side! That stone is as low as it can go though. It sounds like you wanted a ring with a flush halo maybe? I feel your pain. I spend tons of money on jewelry and IT’S NEVER QUITE WHAT I ASKED FOR!! DAMMIT! And yes, sometimes it’s so disappointing there are tears. You see everyone else getting their dream rings and things never really turn out quite right! I’m sorry it’s not to your liking. I say save up and try again a bit down the road. It isn’t fair to ask the jeweler to eat the cost if he provided what you asked for. Next time be specific about the size of the stones in the halo and on the shank and precisely where you want your stone to sit. Request a CAD and/or a wax and supervise the production process by getting pics midway. I know it isn’t helpful to say but it really is quite a lovely ring!

TrueLove407:  I’m so sorry you don’t like the setting. The only thing I can think of is to have the ruby removed and sell the setting on diamondbistro. Obviously you won’t get all your money back but at least it’s something to put towards Another setting. Or maybe even having a jeweler use the gold and diamonds from the setting to make a different one that way you would really only be paying for the labor. Goodluck I hope you figure something out 🙁

Ordering a setting from a catalog that is sized for your finger is considered custom. I was told the same thing when I pickes out my setring and had my FB moissanite set. Was it special ordered in your size? If so that’s probably the reason why you can’t exchange it. Once it’s custom sized there is no going back. He should atleast give you a store credit.
