Ok, so my Fiance and I found a pretty good airfare deal to Costa Rica, and we’re thinking of going. Has anyone here been there before? Any advice about where we should go, where we should stay, what we should do, etc?

Yes! I was actually on a school-based trip, but got to see and do some great stuff. The mountains are lovely, and the beaches (we were in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area) are just gorgeous. I will say, though, that San Jose was kind of crazy and I was glad to not be there too long, andI watch your purse in case of pickpockets there. I also got to go whitewater rafting and went to Irazu Volcano, very cool.

I went back when I was in high school and loved it!
We spent a few days on a turtle preservation on the Carribean coast which was really cool. The presearvation was accesible only by boat and we went out and walked the beach every night watching for poachers and for sea turtles than had come ashore to lay their eggs.
Then we went through the middle of the country to the cloud forests and the Arenal volcano. We went whitewater rafting and went to the natural hot springs. We also did a one night home-stay with a family in a tiny village and helped plant trees.
Lastly, we ended up in a resort on the Pacific coast were we relaxed and went zip-lining.
Costa Rica is gorgeous and so much fun! I definitely recommend it!

We are thinking of going as well, but debating if we should go right after our wedding during the summer or putting it off until November/December. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thank you for answering! We’re still not 100% sure, but it’s looking pretty likely that we’ll be going there at the end of June.
Any ideas about where in Costa Rica we should go, and what we should do there, and what we should pack? Any ideas about the general costs of things there?
