I have not, but I have a few close friends who did and say it was the best thing they ever did, even years later.

hi! i’ve had laser eye surgery. it wasn’t lasik because my vision was SO BAD they had to do a more invasive surgery called ‘prk’ where they actually slice into your eye (while you are wide awake! LOL thank god for local anesthesia! hahah)

so far my results have lasted the 6 yrs since i’ve had it done. about 2 yrs ago i got a pair of reading glasses that i use for computer, reading, night driving on occassion but they are not required and are really only for my one worse eye (was EXTREMELY bad..like this wacky astigmatism.. the Drs actually told me i had the worst vision they ever corrected! LOL and this was a big long-running place in a city!!!)

i have absolutely no regrets (despite it no joke hurt after. maybe three days of ugh. all worth it!!!).

this was literally one of the best things i ever did/happened to me. (only someone with bad vision from early childhood can really understand!!!!). before i had it done it was seriously like my dream in life. now the whole glasses, contacts, blindness, hassle, madness is totally in the past. (litle things like laying down and watching a movie til you fall asleep that you can’t do with either contacts in or glasses on!) when i first had it squared away i literally cried with happiness! from when they realized my vision was f*ked at about age 6 i have struggled with it! i would tell anyone, if you can afford it/insurance and you are over this whole vision problem thing, RUN to get it done!!!

I had laser eye surgery about 5 years ago and have been extremely happy with it! I was paranoid about the surgery itself, but it was quick and easy. The only negative for me was for about a week or 2 after you have to routinely put drops in your eyes to help with the healing and to prevent drying. It was amazing to open my eyes the morning after the surgery and see perfectly! I highly recommend having the surgery if you’re tired of dealing with contacts!

I was also a PRK patient because of the severity of correction.  Recovery was awful, but I have no regrets!  Two years later and my vision is perfect.  I just have a little trouble with night driving, but I did pre-surgery, and I almost always have to wear sunglasses outdoors during the day, even if it’s cloudy.  My sister had Lasik almost five years ago and has bad wind sensitivy now, but otherwise loves her results, too.

I had PRK done too -THE BEST thing I’ve ever done! The best investment in “me”

I had lasik about 10 years ago.  I have had to wear glasses/contacts since I was in the second grade, and to have my eyes corrected was a lifelong dream (like someone else said)

The surgery was very quick and easy.  The after care was a bit of a pain, but nothing bad. I just hated wearing those goggles to bed at night.  Other than that, easy peasy.  I did have to go back in for a second surgery on one of my eyes because it wasn’t quite to the point that they thought it should be, but it was no big deal at all.

10 years later I am just now seeing a tiny bit of difference in my sight. Nothing really that I’d need glasses for, but I imagine in the next 5 years I may have to go back in.

All in all…best decision I have ever made.  I LOVE IT.

Ladies who were too “blind” to have LASIK, how bad were they (if you don’t mind sharing) I too have been looking into it and I am wondering if i am too far gone for lasik!

Just got my LASIK two days ago!  Still kind of blurry and a little irritated but is already one of the best decisions of my life. Go for it!!

This is so interesting! I’ve never even heard of PRK. I’ve considered lasik, but I’m pretty blind so I have a feeling PRK is what I would need as well.

@kansas_nurse:  did it & loved it! wished i had done it earlier. my eyes were shortsighted -4.75 so quite bad. one of my eyes is now 20/20 and the other is a little bit blurry but they will touch it up for me shortly.

I was -4.5 in both eyes, I now have 20/15 vision. I wholly endorse LASIK surgery. I don’t even remember wearing contacts now.

I do have to wear glasses to drive at night or if I’m doing a ton of reading/computer work — the latter because I went from being fairly nearsighted to the teensiest bit farsighted. They said it will correct itself out though, and that they usually overcorrect young patients a bit.
