There have been some spicy topics on the bee as of late (e.g., politics, abortion, welfare) and in many cases, there are plenty of Bees who make a concerted effort to provide information/research to clear up any myths or misconceptions they notice in some of the heated threads.
I’m wondering, have you ever gone into a thread with one point of view, but after hearing the other side started to view that topic differently? Have any Bees helped you think about some of these social issues in a new light? Or at the very least, helped you to respect the opposite side’s point of view?

Honestly – the money dance. When I first heard about it, I thought it was incredibly offensive, rude, the dreaded T-word, etc. I thought that it would be a ridiculous show at a wedding, and gift-grabby, and just all-around terrible. I didn’t understand why anyone would ever choose to do it. But, after learning this history and culture behind it, I can see why some people may choose to do it. That’s not to say I agree with it or it makes me any less uncomfortable, but now I get why some Bees do love it!

Well first off @SweetDeeReynolds: it’s finally tonight!!!! AHH!
Uh, like PP, I’d say the money dance thing. Yes, I still think it would be weird and inappropriate if I did one. BUT, I had no idea that for some it was a culture thing, and for others that it was totally the norm for their area.
This isn’t a hot topic, but the Bee taught me that I fucking suck at all things DIY. Haha. Everyone on here is like, inappropriately good at their wedding projects.
My really controversial beliefs are still the same though. Yes, I support abortion. Vaccines? Love them. Gay marriage? Totally supported.
