Fiance and I met when we were 13-years-old. I was meaning to IM a schoolmate because we were assigned a project together. I forgot their screenname, so I was looking through this AIM directory trying to find it and I accidently IMed the wrong person (my FI). I was NOT looking for love, haha. We just said hello and where are you from?, etc etc. He happened to be the same age so we friended each other and just randomly talked here and there. I lived in Baltimore and he lived in a small town in Iowa.

At some point we started talking for longer periods of time – just about school, his baseball team, whatever was going on in our lives. We ended up becoming really good friends and at 15 we decided we should be boyfriend/girlfriend. It was weird – it was not what we were intending and it was not ideal, but the feelings were there. My mother would NEVER have let me go out there to meet him and his parents felt the same way about coming to Maryland. We stayed in this LDR for years and really fell in love with each other. Its really hard for people to understand when they haven’t been in that situation, but it happens.

At 19 I finally flew out to meet him. We were exactly the same in person as we were online. I still say that I knew Fiance better the day I met him in person than most people do when they get married – because all we did was literally talk. Hours and hours of just talking and getting to know one another. There were times that we chatted for 7 hours a day.

After the first trip to Iowa we saw each other 3 more times (including me spending an entire summer at his house with his family) before he transferred colleges to be with me in Texas (where I was attending school). We’ve been living together ever since, have bought a house and are getting married in October after dating for 12 years!!!

I found this quote that, for me, rings extremely true…

“Why is long distance love the best kind? Because that level that you connect on is indescribable. You learn to love that person for who they are, not what they look like. You learn that trust outweighs sex. You learn that communication, like hearing their voice everynight, means more than kissing them. You learn that love is emotional and mental, not physical. The little things get more attention on them, and since those are the most important things overall, thats what makes that kind of relationship so special.”

Here we are.. πŸ™‚

@adoc86:  that is SUCH a great story.

Hubs and I met when I placed a personal on CL.  I know… I know… who really does that and doesn’t end up murdered, right?  I got 78 or so responses, many of them wee wee pictures.

@Chuby:  We met through mutual friends that I became friends with through answering a Craigslist ad to rent a room.  The day after we met, I friended him on Facebook and we have been together going on three years.

@Chuby:  we met on wow πŸ™‚ i transfered back to my old server and ended up raiding together. We were friends for a really long time but then we finally confessed our feelings for each other. I moved 1100 miles away with him. I was never looking for love on wow either. Its funny because i used to make fun of all the people that thought wow was their personal dating site. I am soo glad that i met my Fiance even if it was online. I think it makes for an awesome story.

Fiance and I met in a sports chat room twelve years ago. At the time he was in NoCal, and I was in Texas. We hit it off as buddies but didn’t really get close until a few years ago. Now the chat rooms are gone, which makes us sad, but we know we both got the best thing to come out of that room!

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat:  Thank you! When I tell people we met online they normally give me a horrified look until I tell them all the details.

At least receiving those 78 responses & prick pics was worth it in the end πŸ˜‰

@Chuby:  Haha, that’s exactly how I met my Fiance.  My guild ended up having kids/families and stopped playing so I joined his guild.  I actually had a bf at the time, and he was in NJ while I was in CA, so I didn’t think anything of it.  After I broke up with my bf, he confessed that he liked me.  Two months later he moved in with me and we’ve been together ever since.  I always joke that he’s my knight in shining armor because he literally saved my life in game when we first met (he was on his holy pally and I was on my rogue).  We were horde, so it’s all over our invites and his groom’s gifts.

Facebook.  No lie.  LOL  We had a mutual friend that we were both always commenting on her updates and it went from there.  We also went to high school together but did not know each other.

All thanks to that comment. By The Way I too did the CL ad thing once… smh… I just…. I can’t understand people and what would make them think “yes, Ill send this one”. Wee wee photos or just plain old weird ones or bad ones or whatever. I just don’t understand.

@charmedbee:  INSANITY, that is almost exactly how I met my fiance (on FB)! We also went to the same high school, he was a senior when I was a lowly freshmen and we didn’t know each other and met 5 years after I graduated.

Also turns out, I was in the marching band with his best friend (who I have the same birthday as). What a small world!
