Has anyone else noticed that using this site or the popularity of other sites has changed the way you’ve planned your wedding? What I’m trying to say is what things in your wedding planning have you changed, added or made more elaborate because of what you’ve seen on these sites?
I’ve found myself thinking so often- “Oh I have to have that!” or “I want to do that too!” when it’s either A) not necessary or B) out of my budget.
I have to say that my wedding budget is probably small compared to the average American bride (less than $4000) and I’m doing all I can to stick to it. However when I see such fun ideas and lovely, creative DIY projects it makes me want to do more. My best example right now is the out of town bags for guests. I would love to make those to have in my guests’ hotel rooms, but I have no moola for that. I know they probably won’t miss them, but I feel like they could be if they knew what other brides are doing! How crazy is that! Please tell me there are other brides out there that feel this way too!

@sparkleeyes: I know, right? Now there are all these cute things you never thought about having or using…. but you DON’T NEED IT!

I think it is very easy to look at these amazing pictures and be all “I want that, and that, and that…” and get swept up in it all. I have got some great ideas from Pinterest, but they’re mainly pretty cheap or different from ‘traditional’ wedding stuff.
I know that in my mind I’m trying to think of my reception as ‘just a party after the main event’ rather than the usual reception cos I know I would get carried away with all the details that are nice but ultimately don’t really matter.

Etsy has been my downfall. I think “Oh, well, I need one of those anyways, so let’s get a unique one!” That usually means more moola. But I have some fun wedding touches.

I would have to agree with you. Looking at these sites or wedding blogs in general while trying to plan a budget wedding is hard! I just have to remember that it is not needed. It’s hard to remember the important things when such prettiness is all around you…

I have actually found the opposite to be true! I see weddings on here that people have for like $3000, and it is so inspiring for me to stick to it!

I do get a lot of those “I WANT THAT” impulses, but I think ultimately the internet has improved my budget because I’ve seen so many alternative ways to do it for less!

@MabelleBliss: that’s what I like – while there’s a lot of things you could go overboard, it is great to see such a huge amount of creative, DIY or budget-friendly that you might not normally see
