We were there as a cruise port.  We loved it, so beautiful, would totally go back.  Our friends were just there for their honeymoon and they stayed at the Sandals resort.  They had nothing but good things to say about it.

@AshleyR83:  We have been to St. Lucia.  I was there last month & a colleague was there in October.  There are many different areas & resorts to choose from & the type of experiene that are seeking would kind of steer a recommendation b/c everyone’s image of the “perfect” place varies.  For example, are you active people who want to experience local culture?  Are you just looking to veg-out w/drink in hand at all day?  Do you want to meet other people?  Or do you want to spend the majority of your time “one-on-one?”

I went as a part of a cruise– it was beeeauuutiful!  Very lush with gardens & greenery from what we saw.  We were only there for a day, but I really loved it!  :o)

I went a few years ago. Adult only resort. I have to admit it was my least favorite carribean destination.  Cuba is my top, Mexico my second. Dominican my third.  Been to carribeans about eight times.

Usually do 4 to 5 star adult star resorts.

Cant remember name of st.lucia resort I was at but it was one of the few resorts I’ve been to that had kids.

I have friends that just got married at Jalousie Plantation. Their photog was really good, and they looked so happy. The scenery was breathtaking. Message me and I’ll send you some of their pics if you want. The resort was gorgeous in the pics. I didn’t go; they had a reception a few weeks after their return.

I’m not sure where they stayed but my Sister and brother in law went for their honeymoon May 2010 and they LOVED it. I want to say like Sandals maybe?? They had the time of their lives and the pictures were FREAKING GORGEOUS.

I’ve been to st. lucia. we rented a house. I would recommend mexio instead. reasons:

maybe it was just me, but I thought st lucia did not have the nicest beaches. they were ok, but the water wasn’t clear, the sand was more coarse and full of broken shells and rocks. the public beaches were a little trashy (but the sandals version keeps theirs cleaned up I’m sure).

also, outside of our house and the beach, there wasn’t much to do. Castries (the capitol city) was really small with nothing going on, and it was kind of run down and sad.  the one activity that I did do that was fun was ziplining.

finally: where are you travelling from? my canadian relatives had no problem finding easy, short flights. but from seattle, we had to have TWO layovers each way!!  it took all day getting there. for whatever reason, st lucia is not the most popular destinations for americans,  so flights are really limited.

but other than that, the people there are very nice, and the weather is good. you will have a very pretty view, too.

I rented a house in playa del carmen mexico once, and the beach there was a million times better. the overall trip (plane tix, house rental, etc) cost way less too, and there was more to do in/around that town. honestly, I’d rather go back to mexio than st lucia.
