Just about two weeks ago I found my dream ring, after looking at rings for almost a year. The first ring to ever that I actually want very very badly!

    http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/solitaire-rings/ring/item_57-4129.asp

It’s going to have a 1.5 c moissanite set in it. J has talked about possibly setting a blue moissanite in it.

J has said that he has a few styles picked out, but I can tell by the way he talks that he also REALLY likes the one that I picked out. We’ve actually looked at TONS of rings together online and in person because we both want to be casual gemologists someday. We are both interested in jewels, gemstones and whatnot anyway. He likes to look at the shinies.

Well I had spent all day looking at ring prices online, where i discovered moissanite, and spent the entire evening scoping the website till Mr Joker came home from work… and as soon as he did i threw the conversation into rings! lol  I not only talked to him about moissanite and compared the prices of a moissanite ring to a diamond ring, but showed him the exact one I wanted, and emailed him the link πŸ™‚  I was very straight forward about it all!

As of the weekend before last he said the ball was officially rolling on the ring…

oo typing that makes me so giddy!!! πŸ˜€

Here she is, a moissanite center stone with diamond band!

My favorite part is the diamond prongs!

I’ve picked and changed my mind about 100 times, this one has lasted the longest though..so it’s probably going to be what I end up with! πŸ™‚

To be honest I didn’t know what was out there or what I wanted so I told him something classic and timeless (solitaire) He thought it was boring and just not “me” so we went to look around, I fell in love with Halos, the square halo with a round stone and I instantly attracted to them in every store.

I think at this point he thought it was funny how my tastes went from classic to lavish, and blingy (paved bands and all)

We picked the stone together, mostly because it was a private sale and he was skeptical about authenticity (my eye sight is better, and I helped with the decission making)

He found a setting all on his own, and didn’t tell me. It’s unique and round (which originally I didn’t want), but I ADORE it. And the infinity symbol from the side view is so meaningfull.

I think it’s awesome that I didn’t have to point at something and he buys it, but he actually figured it all out on his own.

I had an idea of what I wanted and left him hints and showed him pics online. Then we went ring shopping and found something completely different. And then, just a few weeks ago, I found this online and sent it to him. I keep changing my mind! I guess that’s what he gets for making me wait so long! lol… I did tell him that this is THE ONE! I really hope he thinks so too. Everybody’s rings (or rings-to-be in some cases) are so pretty! I love the halo!

This will be my second marriage so I was honest with him about what I want.  The first ring I had was a .30 ct solitaire with some very, very big inclusions.  So big, I’m pretty sure they could be seen from space.  :S  I never loved it, and I actually took it off and put it in the drawer after a couple of years because the big black spots in it bothered me so much. This time around, I wanted more of a say in what I have to look at forever (this time.)  πŸ™‚

I have had my heart set on a 3 stone ring, both for the past/present/future meaning, but also because I do not come into this marriage alone.  I have two beautiful daughters, and I love that the ring will have 3 stones, one to represent each of us. His only requests were that I get what I want this time, and that the stones be set into a ring by his family jeweler.

We picked out the stones at jamesallen.com and had them shipped to us here in Canada, and he took them into the jeweler 3 Saturdays ago. (not that I’m counting or anything…lol)

I love that I picked out the exact stones I wanted, and that he is buying the setting from someone he admires and trusts.

This is the ring I showed him, but mine won’t be this big.  The center of mine is .71ct and the 2 side stones are .30 each.  I can’t wait to SEE IT!!!!!   πŸ™‚

ETA.  Can’t insert a pic into the post…D’oh!

Uhhh, kinda. My SO and I had talked about how we’re going to be on a really really tight budget for everything for our wedding. He was concerned about the cost of a ring, and I told him that I’d be fine with him getting me something small and classy in a gemstone or in a colored diamond to show to people when they inevitably ask to see my ring. Right now I’d rather be saving to pay off our house (we’re paying a mortgage) and for our wedding. However, I do know that he want’s to surprise me, so I emailed my best friend (and would be MOH) links to a bunch of vintage and handmade rings I like (mostly from etsy. I’d be hesitant getting a ring there if he were spending a fortune, but I think it’s acceptable for a 3-400 dollar piece of jewelry.). I know for a fact that he’s consulted her anytime he’s bought me any gift, so I thought that maybe it would help him in the right dirrection. I actually have a feeling he might have gotten something, but I’m trying not to think about it because I don’t want to ruin any surpirses, or get excited about anything!!

We actually went shopping together recently and looked online a few times.  I am so excited because we have started our payments on my center stone!  It is a 1.01 ct D colored oval diamond.  *drool* haha

We are waiting on the band and will shop around a tiny bit more even though we basically know what we are going to get.  We are trying to save for a ring and down payment on a house so things have been a bit tight lately.

I am already married but when it came to the ring my hubby wanted guidance.  I however still wanted an element of surprise.

We visited a jewelry store together and our compromise was:

I gave him two choices in stone shape (princess or asscher) and for setting I just wanted a solitare with some kind of vintage/engraving details.

I had the relief knowing I was going to get a great ring but I also had the excitement of not knowing what it was going to be exactly.

    My ring
