@Mine29:  Thank you!! πŸ™‚ My SO’s birthday is September too, as is his sister’s, and both of my best friends! AND his mom’s engagement ring is a sapphire! When I realized all the significance behind it I teared up in the store, and it made me realize how meaningful it would be to have this! We’ll see, I tried on another I liked and we’ve looked at so many online. I will love whatever he turns up with!

@aprilnewbee:  Here is the website that this one was on :http://gabrielny.com/

I am pretty sure it is the ring I tried on at a local jeweler where I live in Monterey, CA. They list the designers on their website and I searched to find it so I could save it somewhere. The other ring I liked was a halo one with a blue diamond, but could not find it online anywhere.

@DrD711:  Love this ring! I am the same as you, I wound up finding weddingbee after he had me trying on rings. I was not even ‘waiting’ or thinking about getting married until he had me try on rings.

We also have the same thing with sapphires! He has gotten me a lot of sapphire jewelry. My ring is going to have a hidden sapphire in it like this, there’s a triangular sapphire and double prong setting like we picked (I will just have a different band):

@lionsheart:  That is such a creative idea, to have a hidden sapphire! I want something a little different that has a sentimental touch to it like that! And agreed, I wasn’t “waiting” until 3 weeks ago! I probably would have been calm after we looked but then he kept doing weird things like checking his bank account at 5am and then go look at ring websites…LOL.

@Mine29:  Mine is going to be a solitaire moissanite on a unique-ish pave band, with a 6 pronged milgrain tulip petal head. I took a lot of different ideas from a lot of different rings I’ve seen and designed it with our jeweler. πŸ™‚

@copperbird90:  I love all the stuff on brilliant earth! I really like the ones with the celtic knots on them. I think I will have to order my wedding ring from them! Can’t wait to see it when it’s on your hand! πŸ™‚

@Mine29:  I am SO into the blingy ringies.  I’m 40 and my STBF (soon to be fiancee πŸ˜€ ) is 37.  We both have good jobs, etc etc.  Still I have my grandmother’s 2 carat oval and that leaves him the money to buy a setting and plan a honeymoon with what he would have spent otherwise.  Still – the diamond’s appraisal and cost of the setting equal abou $25K.  STBF was overly agitated about what other people would think about the ridiculous cost of the ring.  He is a saver and would never choose to spend that on a ring (hell, neither would I, I’ve got kids to put through college).  Once I got him to talk through why too much bling/presumption of cost bothered him it cleared up a lot.  Maybe you’ll recognize some of these reasons in you and it will help you make a decision.  First he was worried about what his parents would think (he’s 37!  ha!) but I understood that he wanted them to respect him and not think he was that wasteful when he has other responsibilities (he has a 9 year old son, you have school).  I told him to tell them and other close relatives the truth, the stone was “free” or in your case inexpensive.  Then he was worried our friends would think he couldn’t afford to buy me such a ring because the stone was (free/inexpensive).  Gees, we don’t have to tell our friends anything.  Just give them a Mona Lisa smile.  I get the whole “living beyond your means” concern.  But the only people who need to poke their nose into that is you and your man.  Your finances are your business only.  And partly your parents since you’re still in school.

I’ll post mine and you’ll see I live for the bling.

In the long run, please choose what you truly want, whichever one you choose.  Trust me that in twenty years you will not care/remember/even think about the one or two friends that may be catty about your ring being nicer than theirs.  But in 20 years you will still be wearing that ring even if you guys decide to upgrade the stones, etc. so choose wisely.
