I’m considering doing some boudoir photos for my Fiance for Christmas, but I have some concerns I was hoping some of you might alleviate! So if you’ve had them done, please answer some questions for me:
First of all, how comfortable did you feel? I’m a little nervous because I feel like I might be self-conscious–nothing like showing your cellulite to a stranger! So did your photographer give you lots of direction and make you feel comfortable? And is there photoshop? haha
Second, what was your guy’s reaction? I’m thinking there can’t be any guys who wouldn’t be excited about this as a gift, but I still feel a little nervous about it for some reason!
Finally, if anyone knows a good photographer in the NYC area, let me know 🙂

I did them for my (now) Hubby – gave him a “little black book” full of photos before he left for his Out of Town bachelor party. I have no regrets – he absolutely loved it, said he had never heard of such a thing (none of his friend’s wives have done it…that he knows of). Based on his reaction, I’m SOOOOO glad I went ahead with it.
I live in the Midwest so I don’t have any personal recommendations but I would absolutely get a female photographer and one that has experience with budoir photography. I had my hair and makeup done (and was glad that I did) – it was a much more sexier version of me than I could have put together myself. I had the photographer come to our home and it actually made for some neat photos (plus made hubby’s reaction more worth it). It was “cool”/”neat” to have our bedroom headboard, our leather couch and our fireplace in the photos.
I was VERY NERVOUS in the beginning – it’s hard to pose sexy for a woman you don’t know but about 30 mins into it, I was really able to relax. I bought my own outfits so everything fit perfectly and I was able to show as much (or as little) skin as I wanted (the photographer was comfortable with anything). I didn’t do any full-on nudes – just isn’t my thing. I would practice poses in the mirror ahead of time, especially your face (when I got my proofs back, I couldn’t believe how strained my sexy look looked).
As far as photoshop, I think it varies with each photog. Mine did do some but it still looked like me (just a little less cellulite and some stretch marks were gone). I would ask your photog and see what they say.
Overall, I would give my experience a 9 out of 10 … only reason it wasn’t a full 10 is because of the amount of money I spent on everything (clothes, candles, hair/makeup, photos) BUT the expression on his face was well worth it, plus knowing he’ll always have that little black book to look at if/when he wants.

First of all, how comfortable did you feel? — Very comfortable. I did the photos with the same photographer that shot engagement photos and wedding phots. I also knew the girl for a few years and we were in the same sorority.
So did your photographer give you lots of direction and make you feel comfortable? Yes, but not too much direction where I felt forced into uncomfortable poses…it was more small direction to minimize any rolls that form from bending, etc.
And is there photoshop? The photos will be edited, but she didn’t photoshop anything in or out of the photos.
I gave the pictures to Darling Husband as part of a wedding gift. He was excited to look through them and he liked them. I haven’t done anything with the pictures though. I might make a photo book for Valentine’s Day.
