I travel for business all the time and I love it when my Fiance can come with me.  It only happens about once a year but I love it.  I sometimes go on his business trips (I dont like being home alone, I prefer to be the one gone)  Last year I tagged along on a trip to Germany.  We had so much fun.

I am on a business trip in Austria now… I miss my Fiance sooooo much.  To make matters worse I am super sick. 🙁

Yeap…..I went with Fiance some months back. It wasn’t a very far away trip (like 2 hours), but it was fun. I got to shop while he was in training.

Fiance offers to take me to conferences, but I turn that down. He’s always in his element and raring to go, and I just want to sit by the pool. Next week’s conference isn’t even somewhere warm, so no dice!

I get the feeling it would be like “do my own thing” but I’d rather not miss work (and getting paid) for that.

I haven’t yet but I’m considering it coming up.  My husband is supposed to go to Hawaii sometime this summer but I’m not sure if we will have the money for it.

I never bring him along with me when I travel for business. If I did, we’d have to board the dog and it’s expensive. Plus, I don’t usually go anyplace exciting.

Wait, you’re worried he will get in toruble with his boss if you tag along? Or you’re worried that if you don’t go with him, he will do something bad like cheat?

They had no probem with them bringing anyone. I stayed in the hotel with him and when after I dropped him off to his training classes I went and explored. Noone was able to find out anyway.

At my old job, my husband (then FI) always travelled with me.  We went to Pheonix, Miami, lots of places in Montana, Puerto Rico, and Denver.  At this job, my husband has only been able to travel with me once: to Monterey, CA.  I always have more fun when my husband gets to go!  Usually, I am not traveling with anyone else from my company, so it’s nice to have someone to spend time with when the work stuff is over for the day.

@Sep_Queen – I wouldn’t worry about someone getting in trouble. I don’t know about other companies, but I think that as long as nobody is abusing an expense account, it shouldn’t matter.

One time, when I was on a business trip to Florida, a friend came with me. She paid for her own flight but stayed in the hotel room with me for free (it was the same price as if I’d stayed there alone). I expensed my meals but not hers. My boss even knew about it but didn’t mind whatsoever.

Can’t your Fiance just ask his boss what their policy is?  My last job encouraged spouses/SOs to travel with their employees, and sometimes it was free for my husband to tag along.  At my current job, we have a policy that employees can bring anyone they want along to business trips, as long as the guest pays for his/her own expenses.

@Sep_Queen: Get in trouble how?  Like drink too much and pass out or hit on other women?

The reality is most people on business trips (especially when just starting out in a career) get super excited with the idea of an expense account and at least get completely hammered once or twice… until they realise that they have to be at a 7:00 am breakfast meeting with their boss and they reek of alcohol.  Reality sets in super fast then.  Just like everything else you have to have a happy balance when it comes to business trips.

If you are worried that other women will hit on him… it is possible.  You just need to trust your Fiance… He did ask you if you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him.  Most likely you are your own worst enemy when it comes to your paranoia.

I trust my Fiance completely.  He could be in a room full of super models throwing thenselves at him and he would have polite conversation.
