I was going to do a candy bar but i am already spending a significant amount of money on everything else that i am cutting the favors out. I did a ton of research as well and it seems to me as they are pointless. Everyone leaves them and they become a waste of money. You see all these little cute favors online but who really wants some figurine with your name all over it. Unless its something you know your guest are going to absolutely love then no not necessary. I have seen some cute stuff like cookies or cake pops but anything non edible is really a waste.

futuremrsJR: I’m a wedding photographer, I see A LOT of favors. I personally LOVE koozies – but totally recognize that not everyone does. We live at the beach, and spend a good majority of the year out on our boat…a koozie is essential to life..haha. I have a huge collection. Food items are always a good one, but it has to be GOOD food. A candy bar with legit candy? Awesome. A candy bar with generic candy that fits the “color scheme”? Waste.
I one favor I remember standing out that was really bad was a small picture frame (think business card sized) which doubled as your place card and favor. It was useless because it had the couples names and date on it – no one is going to use a picture frame with someone elses name/date on it. No one took theirs.
We did favor sized containers of Johnson’s Popcorn (caramel popcorn), as well as little tin buckets of fudge/salt watertaffy combo. They were a HUGE hit. We did not have a single container of popcorn left over and only a few things of the fudge/taffy. Our guests were texting us pics of themselves eating it as drunken late night snacks…lol.

- Wedding: March 2014 - Chicago, IL
One that I loved was Jone’s sodas with bride & groom’s pic on it with their wedding date, because their new last name was Jones 🙂

I liked the playing cards we recieved! They were not personalized so I don’t feel awkward using them!!

Ham1320: I don’t consider the photobooths as a favor. I don’t know anyone who would. Are they fun to do? Sometimes, but I think of it more as a fun way for the bride and groom to see their guests dressed up and acting silly as they look back on their wedding.

I think favors are way fun! They don’t have to be expensive to be nice, especially since people have mixed reactions to them. We’re probably going to do candies or spices in little containers.

Best wedding favor I got was a mason jar with dry ingredients for chocolate chip cookies layered inside. They put instructions for wet ingredients (eggs and oil) in a tag and tied it around the har with twine.
it was delicious.

Swebs14: Our guests enjoyed it. Every guest who was in the picture got a copy and then we got a photo album and digital copies as well. They weren’t our favors but I know I’ve been to weddings where they are used as favors and that was perfectly fine by me. Depends on your guests and what they would enjoy.

I’ve had a few I liked… all edible. Gourmet truffles, homemade cookies, rocky mountain skor apples, gourmet (giant) chocolate and caramel covered pretzels… All delicious.
I also have had my fair share of crap. An espresso set (of 4!) Bookmarks with a poem & the B&G’s photo (which was exactly the same that my aunt & uncle had given out 10 years before as a memorial when my, and the groom’s, cousin died!) Shot glasses, a potted rose bush… I never used any of them, I didn’t even take the rose bush (I lived in an apartment.)
We are doing french macarons. They are delicious. If anyone doesn’t want them, that’s fine with me. I will take them home and eat them myself!

sostobe: I LOVE macarons! Such a great favor.
I used them for our seating chart. We put little gold flags on toothpicks and stuck them in macarons and that’s how our guests found their seats.

Wow thank you all for the responses!! Lots of ideas! yes chocolate covered apples are AMAZING!..But were having around 250 guests so I am thinking we will just not do a favor. One that we could afford would be crap and not even worth it..I can just add some candy to the desert bar

I’m surprised to hear that so many people find favours unnecessary. I always look forward to seeing what the couple have chosen though, admittedly, I really only find the edible ones worthwhile. We did hot chocolate cones for our wedding of which none remained at the end of the night, and my other favourites have includes a box of two truffles and a print-out of us at the photobooth. One wedding we went to didn’t have favours and everyone definitely noticed.

My favorite favor ever was when a friend took tiny kids dinosaurs and cut then in half, painted them gold and added magnets so that they stuck together and held your place card in between. (This idea is all over Pinterest. Of course.) Who doesn’t love having a gold Dino butt on your fridge holding your grocery list in place!?!
