I’d never give my money to a company that treated me that way.

i was very particular with all my venders. A big reason was my age, a lot of potential venders said snide remarks (or their staff did) about me – like that i must be pregnant ect so I wanted to meet with every vender ect before putting a deposit down

You are the customer. They should be doing everything in their power to get you to work with them! You are absolutely entitled to ask a lot of questions, as long as they’re about flowers/previous work/etc.

I think you have every right to ask questions of a vendor! You’re about to trust them with what many people regard as the “most important day of your life,” as well as give them a whole lot of money in the process! You wouldn’t buy a car without asking a lot of questions, and a salesperson wouldn’t refuse to sell you a car because you asked them too much, would they?

Whilst I think you have the right to ask as many questions as you want I also think it is up to the vendor whether they want to take your business or not. Maybe they have enough business that they are not worried about one bad review and would rather not have the hassle of what they see as an annoying bride (not saying that you are).

Obviously since you yourself said that you want their services in particular then they obviously do very good work and probably know it and are in demand.

I understand how you feel because I have to ask a lot of questions and think of what my Fiance would want to know because he is not here right now. I have been blessed because the florist has been in business for 25 years and is so patient and understand. He said if I have any questions or want to make changes it is no problem. I am sorry the florist was being a jerk try to find one that has been in business for a while they tend to be more patient with brides.

@Pokemon:

so far everyone has been good about my age, but I was concerned at first that someone may jump to conclusions. I think it helps that our wedding is so far away.

OP- I think you have every right to ask questions, I ask a lot. I want to know everything before I go and pay them to do something that I don’t know the specifics of. I would be concerned that they may not be very helpful if that was the reason behind rejecting a client.

Vendors are not obligated to work for you just because you want them to – they can refuse any business they’d like.  I wouldn’t take it personally, he probably just got the vibe that you were going to be tough for him to work with so would rather not for both of your sakes. You’re allowed to ask questions so I wouldn’t feel bad about that. It’s his loss of income in the end. You’ll find a florist that you’re better suited for.

To be honest, if I was a vendor I’d probably get annoyed with a bride asking tons of questions if it sounded liek she was very anal and trying to micromanage the process. The vendor’s the expert, not the bride, so I’d find it very annoying to work for someone who tried to tell me how to do my job or felt I wasn’t capable of doing the job.  I think we can all relate to those feelings no matter what industry we are in.

@bump:  Kinda sounds like the two of you might already be starting off on the wrong foot. Not sure I would give this guy my business……your wedding is several months away from what I rem and you are sure to have tons more questions before then……which might leave you scared to even scared to ask questions. I would keep searching til I found someone I was on the same page with! Good luck!
