Have you ever felt that your ring is not considered a real e-ring by others?

@Jellybones:  Omg. Is it like the gorgeous peach sapphire that’s all over pinterest? B/c honey that one is AMAZING

I would have loved a colored stone like an emerald or a ruby but FH is super traditional. But I know some people who are just plain snotty about e-rings / lack the vision of something more interesting! It could be a stinking ring pop, but as long as YOU love it that’s all that should count!

I hope you post pics of how awesome it turns out!! πŸ™‚

If someone doesn’t consider that an engagement ring, then they are out of their minds!!

I consider any ring worn on your left ring finger an engagement ring.  Plus that ring is GORGEOUS. I have the traditional diamond solitare so I can’t say I’ve ever had this problem but I wouldn’t worry about what others think at all.  If you get proposed to with that ring it’s an engagement ring!

@Jellybones:  OMG jellybones! that’s EXACTLY the ring I was talking about. It is WONDERFULLLLLL!!! OOOH! I’m so excited for you! (And selfishly for the rest of us bees who get to see the finished product later on!!!)

PSSSHHHH. THAT is NOTHING for people to turn up their noses at. It is fabulous and it will look great on you!

That stone is gorgeous! Diamonds are only the stone of choice (for most people) these days because of good advertising. If you look at rings from years ago there was a mixture (including diamonds). Anyone that turns their nose up at something different is just close minded and not worth the time really…it’s not THEIR ring it’s YOURS! Don’t get me wrong…I have seen some gorgeous diamonds and wouldn’t have turned one down but I prefer colour just as some prefer colourless…and I expect people to respect MY choice for MY ring…and here’s a pic of it:

No one has EVER made me feel this way. But I am sure some people think it. Not family or anything but maybe strangers that see it? Honestly my ring was not given to me the day we got engaged. My husband got it for me for my 21st birthday long after we got married. But I wear it proudly on my ring finger on my left hand!

It doesn’t bother me at all what anyone else thinks. It doesn’t make me any less married because my stone is a pink topaz rather than a diamond. Be confident in your choice to go with a colored stone and remember the only thing that matters is that YOU love it. No one else!

That peach sapphire looks gorgeous, btw. I can’t wait to see it set! I hope you post photos. πŸ™‚

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose:  Haha it should be no surprise.  There’s thread after thread arguing about it.  Sigh.

Anyways, OP your ring is absolutely gorgeous.  Don’t let anyone tell you different!

Okay, this is a little off-topic, but since @mrstau732 mentioned Ring Pop engagements:

I should qualify that this was just a cute/fun pose for an engagement picture…my actual engagement ring was in my pocket for the Ring Pop pics!  Haha!  But still, the idea was there.  πŸ™‚

I can’t answer the question you raised, OP, as my engagement ring is indeed a diamond one.  What I CAN say, however, is that ANY ring can be an engagement ring if you wish for it to be!  It is the meaning behind it that makes it an e-ring…it has nothing to do with the stone itself.  That peach sapphire looks beautiful, and if you choose it, your ring will be every bit as much an engagement ring as mine is!  I think your friend’s boyfriend was very rude to comment otherwise.

@deetroitwhat:  Do you have a clear stone other than a diamond? Sigh Ignore people. Your ring is your ring and your business. No one elses! πŸ™‚
