I am not good at taking a pill every day especially at the same time. So yes there were a few scares. It always came within a few hours to 24 hours after takign that test.

Not to mention the time when I was doing the budget at the end of Feb and realized I should have gotten my period weeks before. Yeah Pregnant I was this time…lol.

the last two times I took a test, it was totally based on a gut feeling, not a missed period.  the werid thing is, one time I was right- and I barely had any symptoms. I could hardly believe it. that is a time when it royally sucks to be right.

I’ve taken quite a few pregnancy tests but most of them have been since we started TTC. Before that I’d taken some “Oh, Crap” ones but just because I’m positively paranoid and because I used to/kind of still do have irregular cycles. I think there were 3 or 4 instances when I tested before TTC because I had convinced myself I was KU. All of them were negative though.

Yup. I have a tested a couple times. Once because my period was a couple days late, and the next time because I had missed my period AND was spotting, and I thought I was having implantation bleeding. Both times were negative.

Funny to see this today, considering I got a mailing from my pharmacy talking about a recall of birth control pills improperly packaged.  (Just order of pills, not drug fortunately, but still not great!)  Fortunately, I have positive proof today that I am not pregnant.  Delightfully the company also declares they will not replace/refund these pills.  It may be time to find a new company…

Yup, taken quite a few over the years. I rather be sure than mentally freak out myself just waiting for it to come. Thank god no positives yet 🙂

@kay01: I heard about that recall, like, weeks ago! I wonder if it was the same pill as yours? regardless, shame on your pharmacy for not calling you immediately!

I take them periodically because I take my BC pill stright through (no periods) and it makes me more comfortable to check every couple of months. There was only one real scare and I was so much of a chicken that I drank a whole bottle of vodka before I did it. That was a bad night. It came out negative (I’ve never had a positive).

@janie-janie: Really?  That’s ridiculous!  I just looked it up and you’re right!  News article in the middle of September.  3 weeks for something time sensitive with umm, life altering consequences to say the least?  Not cool.

A few times quite a few years ago. I had gone off the pill and was using other forms of contraception. Every month Aunt Flo was coming a day later to the point where they were almost 40 days apart. It freaked me out a few times, so I took the tests and they were *thankfully* negative. I went back on the pill to regulate my time of the month and haven’t had any issues since.

If you’re not trying to get pregnant, than is nothing worse than the “uh oh” test.  We just had a scare about 1 1/2 years ago. I was 42 and next to teenagers, women in their early 40s are the next highest group of “Whoops” pregnancies.  So, even though I had an IUD in place it had been there for 17 years (I know I know!).  My OB was mildly concerned because I told it was still there because I didn’t have the money to replace it and it still worked.  And while I was worried it was going to damage me in some way, she was like, no but you could get pregnant.

Sure enough, not a few months later I miss my period. I’m like, really?  I’ve had two kids so I know what early pregnancy feels like (or you would think) and I had every single symptom and no period.  I couldn’t go out fast enough for the test.  It was negative but somehow that’s not very comforting when you’re like 3 weeks late.  I took another.  Negative.  And I finally got my period maybe a week after that.  But that was a really bad scare because the whole time I kept thinking, “What if the test is somehow wrong?”.  I did not want to be a geriatric mom.  Oh, and I finally got the new IUD.  Total peace of mind so far:)

Funny you ask this.  I’m about to get off the pill and switch to FAM/NFP.  When I bought my book and basal thermometer online, I bought a package of pregnancy strips (as accurate but not as expensive as the drug strore tests) because I’m sure I’ll freak out a few times if I’m a day late.
