    @katiecat08:  lol, no. I’ve never done that, but I’ve had a promise ring for a while now. I wear it on my ring finger, so a lot of people actually think it’s an engagement ring.

    @katiecat08:  No, but I’ve tried them on just to *imagine* it better. But I won’t wear one there just because I want it to be more special when it’s real. 🙂

    Not like that, but I do have a ring I wear on my right hand and there were more than a few times that I would put it on my left hand, just to get a feel for it.

    You needed a “maybe” choice!  So and I were ready to get engaged a year ago, looked at rings in early December. Then his ex wife petitioned for full custody of their son. He (understandably) freaked out. Shut down, pushed me away, and generally emotionally kicked the dog for about a month. He didn’t want to lose me but couldn’t focus on commitment at all. He bought me a very pretty diamond ring similar in shape to the one we wanted but with a cluster instead of a large diamond (I wish there were better words because it’s not a cluster). Anyway, it wasn’t an engagement ring but kind of a promise ring (I know, we aren’t 14). He was promising that we’d get through anything even though his life seemed like it was ending to him. I wear it about 75% of the time. But not to fake engagement. Although it’s quite convenient to flash when some gross guy at a gas station hits on you!

    @katiecat08:  Um nope….can’t say I ever did that. That’s a little….odd.

    @sugar_biscuit:  hehe! I don’t wear my ring he gave me (for my left hand) when I get sick of waiting. Same reason you said. He doesn’t get to brand me before he buys the cow. I think I just called myself a cow.

    It never occurred to me to do this. Although in fairness, I’m not keen on traditional engagement rings on me and don’t have one despite being married. What I did wear on my left hand was a beautiful white gold band which Darling Husband gave me several years before we married as a symbol of our commitment. It fitted my left hand finger (which is a different size to the right hand one!) and was a lovely contemporary design that just looked right on that finger. I never wore it to persuade anyone that I was married, however!

    No. I have never worn a ring on my left ring finger until I got engaged. It just didn’t feel right.  I have a friend who does and my husband pointed it out once and thought it was super weird lol. I just think it’s funny he noticed.

    Uhh.. no. I’ve never heard of anyone doing that. Seems a bit… odd to me.

    When we had the ring, but before Fiance actually proposed, I used to wear it all the time! I’d be like, “Honey…. I had a bad day…. will you bring me my ring?” Haha, poor Fiance, patience of a saint.

    We ordered a ring from berricle that is really similar to the ring we are having custom made for my engagement ring. The style I wanted isn’t really available in stores, so i never got to try it on to see if I liked it. So yes, I’ve totally worn the berricle one around a few times just for fun and to get the feel of it haha! And I’ve shown my friends and they’ve all tried it on just for fun. i don’t really think it’s that big of a deal.

    @katiecat08:  Yes!! I didn’t even think of it as “a thing” so I never guessed that anyone else would ever do this!

    I was at a big Forever 21, and they had an engagement/wedding band combo for around $5, so I bought it and wore it for fun for a few days. My friends rolled their eyes, but they get me so it was all in good fun! My Fiance (then boyfriend) kinda laughed about it too. I said I wanted to be sure it was comfy to wear rings on my non dominant hand.

    I ended up taking it off for good after about a week, 1) because the yellow “gold” was already coming off, and 2) because it was probably a 3+ carat solitaire, and I knew I was setting myself up for major disapointment if I got used to the way that it looked!

    @katiecat08:  I am sporting a fake engagement ring to holidays this year because we are engaged without a ring at this time. The “traditional” proposal is coming in a few months so we bought one together to help with the holidays so people dont get the confused where’s your ring look.
