My fiance and I are having our wedding on the beach in the sand this coming March of 2019.
Here are some photos of what we are planning on having for as our inspiration for our reception. I am concerned about keeping the candles lit if the wind picks up. We are not doing any flower arrangements in in place of that we want tons and tons of candles.
Has anyone had a wedding recpetion in the sand? If so, I would love any tips, tricks, dos-and-donts, must haves and ideas and PICTURES!

As it shows in your inspiration pictures….keep the candles at least 3 inches below the top of the container it’s in. Open candles (unprotected by a container of some sort will blow out even with no wind or breeze because it heats the air around it causing the air to move and will blow out the candles or make them flicker to the point it’s concerning. The containers direct the heat out of the container that’s why they don’t blow out Have you considered using Luminarias? With all the sand right there to weight the bag, it should be very inexpensive and now they have the bags with beautiful cut outs. There are also tons of DIYs using pails, cans and your own design cutouts on Pinterest.

Love the inspiration but do keep in mind that anything outdoor needs a plan B! I was hoping for a partly outdoor reception but the dumping rain made my Plan B the plan of the day!

i’ve been to an outside wedding reception once, which was my bestfriend’s wedding. she did prepare everything well and organised. she thought of another plan in case if it rains, and so on. i guess the guests won’t bother wearing heels since it’s the sand we’re talking about here :D, and maybe some speakers and microphones that allows you and others to speak clearer. and also it would depend on the context and the theme of your wedding whether you should include like an activity or games where everyone could join and engage in
