Only to Fiance…though at the time, I wanted to say it to FMIL! She insisted on asking her friend’s granddaughter to be our flower girl, despite the fact that we’ve never even met her. I think it’s kind of silly and I told Fiance it’s our wedding and if we really don’t want one, why can’t we decline? I tried, but he felt like because his parents can’t contribute a lot financially, they need to feel like they’re helping. On a rational level, I agree, but on a brattier level I felt like saying…this is my wedding!

I’ve had to use it, but just with the moms. Its funny they want completely opposite things. My mom wants me to keep it way simple courthouse even — not my style. Future Mother-In-Law wants everything over the top spending invite everyone on the planet. They’ve both had to be told multiple times that this is MY wedding and not theirs. Thank god its almost over and I can go back to being a normal human being.

I actually haven’t had to use this yet, but I’m definitely not afraid to.. LoL.  I think I’ve avoided it so far by not sharing any little details with my mom.  She tells me often that it’s my day, dress, etc and that I should do what I want.  BUT… she still voices her opinion strongly whenever I mention something “different” that she finds odd.  LoL.  So.. unless she specifically asks, I don’t share.  LoL.

Oh yes, I have been saying this to my Mom since day 1…  She told me that a wedding is really a party for the brides’ parents (more so than the bride and groom) and since she’s hosting it, she gets to do whatever she wants.

Fiance and I are splitting the cost pretty evenly amongst ourselves, my parents and his mother, so I’m not really sure where my mom gets off thinking it’s “her” wedding.  When she says stuff like that I just want to bash my head against a brick wall.

Not yet and hopefully I won’t have to. Fiance and I are paying and it’s going to be a small wedding. I get the feeling I might have to at some point because my current choice of dress colour is not one that my mom would have chosen. Hopefully everything else will be smooth.

I haven’t yet, but man have I wanted to especially at Future Mother-In-Law.  She is always telling me “in our family this and in our family that.”  Guess what lady, I’m not a member of your family and “it’s my wedding”.  You were as involved as your two daughters wanted you to be/allowed you to be.  Now it’s my turn and my mother’s turn.  Live with it.
