I live(d) alone and it was the best thing I've ever done for myself

I live(d) alone and it was a good experience, but I don't think it was a crucial life experience

I live(d) alone, but not by choice. I don't like it

I live(d) alone by choice and hated it. I do not recommend.

You know, I haven’t, and sometimes, I wish I had.

I have, and I think it was great for me but not the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. It was great to be independant, and nice to learn things about owning a place (for me personally, I had bought a condo so I wasn’t renting). But I don’t think I would be any less of a person if I hadn’t done it.

It was fun though to have a place to call my own, I seemed to be WAY less busy then and have less responsibilities then I do now owning a home with Fiance. Probably cause our house is much bigger and I feel like there’s always something that needs to be done.

ETA- My move was to a different city too and I think THAT was more pertinant than the “living alone” part. I’m lucky too, living alone I never felt lonely. I actually liked calling the shots and doing what I wanted, I never felt a shred of guilt if I decided to sit on the couch all night and watch the bachelor LOL. Now when Fiance is home doing stuff I feel like I should get up and do things too instead of relaxing 🙁 and Fiance is a busy body!

I haven’t, but my sister lives alone. I think she really enjoys it. When she does see us she talks A LOT because she doesn’t have any one to talk to while she is by herself, lol. BUt other than that she enjoys it for sure!

I’ve lived alone and didn’t care for it. I like having someone to talk to, watch movies with, cook for, etc. Plus I watch way too many crime shows and just get freaked out at night in a house all by myself lol.

I lived alone alone for about 6 months before DH moved in. But I also had an internship where I lived with my Maid/Matron of Honor, but she was only there maybe two weeks of the time.

I think it’s a good experience to be completely responsible for yourself and running a house/apartment. Makes a bit more independent – no one to go running to or pick you up when your brakes fail at an 8-way intersection during a tornado warning!

Yes. I moved out of the dorms after my freshman year and had my own apartment all through the rest of college. I moved in with a boyfriend for a year after college and then alone again for a couple years after that. I really enjoyed having my own space and the experience of being entirely independent.

Living alone was the BEST decision I ever made. I lived alone for about two years with no roommates, no live-in boyfriends, not even a dog. I learned so much about what I was capable of us (such as doing light home fixes and cooking). I was also 100% sure that I was ready when my now-FI moved in.

I loved living alone! It was only for a year but it was great! Not having to deal with roommate issues, having Fiance over whenever I wanted and not having worry about what the roomie thought. It wasn’t always fun cooking dinner for myself, but I managed and I think it was a really good life experience to have.

I lived on my own in my condo for 8 years…no roommies, just me!  Loved it, and wouldn’t change it for anything. Ditto what ohmybears said!

I lived alone ( completely alone) for 6 months. I moved to a new city- where I know not one person and lived alone and it was the hardest/best thing I have ever done. I had to GPS myself to McDonalds I was so lost, and goodness knows they’re on EVERY corner! I did get a roommate for a year before moving in with my then- Fiance.

I actually really enjoyed it– and there is nothing like fixing or doing something yourself and then giving yourself a pat on the back! It like-  “Hell. Yes. I can unclog the sh*t out of that drain any day!”

I did for a year – but I don’t think it made a big difference in my life, didn’t like it or dislike, I was just indifferent.

@MrsDrRose612:  hahaha, yeah, that one may have actually happened. But I actually had roommates that summer, but they were all gone that day. So it was the same as if I were living alone!
