Long Story Short. My engagement ring and wedding band has been stolen, which means I have to replace it with insurance money….
I have seen some online at bluenile, but it makes me very uncomfortable to buy a ring online for about 8,000$!!
Have you done it and what were your experiences?!

Thats horrible. MY Fiance bought my engagement ring from Blue Nile. He said he researched it and it is the best place to buy from online. I just wish he researched it is better to get a bigger diamond than a platnium band.

@Lisamr: Thank you! Did it come appraised or did you have to do that on your own? If you did on your own, was it appraised at a good value as compared to what he paid for it?

Sorry to hear about that!! I picked out my e-ring from James Allen and my wedding band from a seller on ebay (forgot the name, but my old roommate got her band from them and they had high ratings). Going this route, I ended up with better quality diamonds for much less than from a jewelry store.

Mine is from Blue Nile, but it didn’t cost anywhere near $8k. I’ve been really happy with it.

My e-ring and band are both from blue nile, their prices are amazing and they have excellent customer service (and free 30-day returns!)
both of my rings came with appraisals, and appraised way higher than what we paid. i was extremely happy with them!
I’m so sorry to hear that your rings were stolen btw, that must’ve been a horrific experience! 🙁

My Fiance got mine online and designed the ring through email exchange. He got it from knox jewelers which is in MN but they do alot of custom work through the internet.
I’ve also heard great things about Blue Nile. My sister got very nice quality diamond earrings from there.

Mine was ordered from Blue Nile and both my Fiance and I are very happy with it. It comes with a GIA certificate – which is preferred over EGL. They are recommended by Forbes as well as many other websites. My Fiance reseached and he could not have gotten the quality locally for the same price.
My ring is a 1.11 Emerald Cut in a platinum Micropave band F color VVS2 and I do not remember the rest of the specs off the top of my head – but the indepent appraisal we had done was that we got an extremely nice diamond – I believe it was just shy of $8k and then my bands are just over $1k each (doing matching on each side)

We got mine on Overstock.com, and I tell ya, I swear by ’em. It’s beautiful and classic and no jewler will believe that we paid this little for it.

@esqbee: Well the story is…I haven’t been wearing them because I have gained a lot of weight and they didn’t fit, so I had been leaving them in my jewellery box…We moved and I put them in my purse along with all my other valuables. When I found and unpacked my jewellery box in the new house I put everything back.
Sometime between a few days moved in and a few weeks ago (elapsed time – 2 months) they went missing. I went to try them on to see how tight they were and they.were.gone. Searched where I could think to look since I haven’t worn them and I can’t find them.
The kicker is there have been 3 men in my upstairs area and ensuite bathroom while I was downstairs. Two were from the builder doing some repairs and 1 was a contracter installing a shower door. Stupid me thought, Oh they seem nice, I can leave them up there alone not even thinking about my valuables in my jewellery box.
It is a possibility one of them took it. I cannot accuse anyone because I do not know for sure. I thought it was going to be easy to replace it. There’s tons of beautiful styles around. I guess I was more attached to it than I thought. And my centre diamond was from a ring of my grandmas. 🙁

My e-ring is from Blue Nile as well. Unfortunately I don’t have a decent picture of it. I should have one as soon as I get my engagement pictures back.
Fiance said the customer service was outstanding. They answered all of his questions and a real person picks up the phone on the second ring. My ring is a total 1.35 carats with a .75 round brillant center halo (I don’t remember all the specs but I know it is VS1) stone set in platinum. Fiance spent 3,000 on it and it was appraised at 6,800 dollars. The ring came with the appraisal and GIA certificate. I get so many compliments on my ring. I love it!
Here’s a picture from the website:

The ring came appraised at about $300 dollars more then he paid. I also took it to a jewlery store to get it appraised and that was at $700 more than he paid. They said it was a good quality diamond. Hence my ring is just 1/3 carat round diamond with a platnium 6 prong band.

Mine came from Blue Nile and I sent it back there to be sized too. The customer service is excellent. The stone came with a GIA certificate and an appraisal (for a lot more than what he paid). It arrives in a ring box inside of a plain box with no distinctive markings. There was no issue with the delivery. They send it by FedEx and only you can sign for it.

I got mine from Pompeii3, a company that has their own site as well as stores on etsy, amazon, and ebay. I love my ring and it came at a great price and free ring sizing. I love the girls at customer service over there! they’re always so cheerful and ready to help

I am another suppoerter of Blue Nile. He bought the band locally and bought the loose diamond off Blue Nile-he said he wasn’t sure since he had already picked out a loose diamond at the local jewler, but thought he’d give it a try. He brought the Blue Nile diamond in to the jewlery store and the girl said it was much better than the diamond they had, which i’m sure she was not too thrilled about.
We’re going to try on wedding bands at local places to decide what we like, and then we will be ordering them from Blue Nile, plus they have 10% off sales.
