We aren’t married yet.. But we have combined finances. My wage has been slowly but steadily increasing. FIs had too, but he recently changed careers and his went down.

Ugh. My FI’s funding for his PhD is running out this year, so he will only have the income from teaching a few classes, obviously his stipend wasn’t much at all but it made a difference.
I am graduating from graduate school this semester and have a great job lined up, so I will be going from a student income with loans to a real income.
I think it will work out to be about the same if not a litlebit more money, but we will still be fairly poor, especially considering that between us we have three masters degrees and an almost PhD.

i quit my social work job to work PT at my family’s business while I’m pregnant and while baby is little. So I took a pay cut.

Yes, we are richer, we’re no longer paying for a wedding 🙂
That aside, I’d say we were marginally better off but with the price of everything going up we can’t get any breakaway with how much we have in the bank, annoyingly.

DH got a cost of living raise, but that’s it.
The only thing that changed financially BECAUSE of the wedding/marriage was the gift money. We dumped it all strait into savings, and it upped our house-downpayment pool by a nice chunk.
