Oh, yeah. He totally cries at the end of movies, especially if there’s anything with an animal involved. I’ve also seen him cry from laughing a bunch of times, that’s the best.

A handful of times.

when I was depressed and making our life hell. He broke down one night. The next week i contacted a counsellor for us so it was a good thing.

At his grandfathers funeral.

when we were dealing with infertility. he cried when his brother announced a pregnancy at a bad time for us. He said it knocked the wind out of him and we both cried. Thankfully we got pregnant a month later.

socalgirl1689:  yep I have a fair amount over 10+ years. He’s had some depression issues over the years, but most recently it was when our super awesome cat died unexpectedly. We were both a wreck! 🙁

socalgirl1689:  Yes, twice in the 5+ years I’ve known him.

1. When his grandmother passed away

2. After his dad’s heart transplant in May of 2014. He went to visit his dad in the hospital, and his dad just looked so weak and in pain. Which is understandable, obviously, after having such a major surgery. But of course no one wants to see their parents like that. So yeah, he did cry. Thankfully his dad is doing wonderfully now!

He has teared up maybe a few dozen times during those “overcome with love, lying in bed staring at each other” moments over the years. But he’s not a sad cryer. He didn’t even cry even his father died. The only time he’s cried in the past four years was after he did something very stupid and I was breaking up with him. Actually, his crying was the reason I gave him another chance: knowing he hadn’t even cried about his dad, I knew his crying meant he really was devastated by what he’d done. That was a few years ago and I’m so glad I gave him a second chance—our relationship is very strong now, in part because navigating that rough patch forced us to learn how to communicate way better.

The first time I saw him completely lose it in tears was when his grandpa died…He proposed earlier that day, and we were on vacation in another part of the country, so his family didnt call to tell him until that night. Second time was at his grandpa’s funeral.

He has also cried leaving me (or me leaving him) at the airport (we’re living in two different countries because I’m in grad school abroad).

socalgirl1689:  Yes, when he’s very sad. A couple of times when he thought we were going to break up. Others when he’s seen someone down on their luck and still trying. He’s a softy.

A few times, usually when he’s had a few beers :p

Back in the day, we broke up for 6 months. We were young, he was deployed, I was trying to finish college. The timing was horrible and we had only been together for a few months at the time so we decided to do our own thing for a while and if later things came back together, so be it. After 6 months had passed and he was back in the states, he called me and said he needed to see me. He bawled his eyes out telling me that we had made a mistake and that he wanted to be with me.

Another time he had been depressed and finally expressed to me how he was feeling. He was just overcome with emotion and happy to finally open up to someone. It was very sad. I saw him cry about this again later, when he was telling me about some of the things he had experienced while deployed and how they still affected him.

Lastly, he did something stupid and I was mad at him so he cried.

Once. He was really stressing out about finding a job post law school (this was pre-graduation). Luckily he got an offer a few months later at a great firm. I think it was less about being potentially unemployed and more about the past three years of law school not being worth it as well as being so worried that he wouldn’t be able to support himself (we started dating in college, I went directly into the workforce while he went straight to law school).

One time only. His mother died of cancer and the family was gathered together to be there when she was picked up by the funeral home. When they closed the coffin he just turned and sank into his brothers arms. It was breaking my heart more than anything.

Never. And we have been through a lot in almost 6 years. He said he “teared up” when my oncologist told us the melanoma had not spread to my lymph nodes. But I didn’t see that. He is so sweet and compassionate but I cry at a fbook video so I don’t really understand it.

When our sons were born, when we found out I was pregnant with this baby via ultrasound, when his grandmother died, when my dad passed away and one time we got into a pretty bad fight and he thought for sure it was the end of our relationship. He cried harder that night than I’d ever seen him cry. It took me an hour to calm him down and convince him to come to bed. So a total of 6 times in almost 12 years.
