I showed him THE dress I had bought, not saying that, in a list of dresses, and he said it looked like a christmas tree. I was just devistated after that. And decided from now on, nope he doesn’t see anything.

I’ve really only shown him the ugly ones, and the dress I thought of getting a knock-off of.

I don’t think I’m going to get the knock-off, but that’s not because of him.

I showed him the first dress I put on which I really liked, but just didn’t work for me-Pronovias Gaudí.  He said in a bad way, “You liked that?!”.  So I decided not to share anymore details.  He’ll like what I’m in because I’ll be in it.

I love wedding gowns with the back out. When I showed my Fiance the gowns he said ” I don’t want you showing too much skin”. I’m thinking about wearing a cardigan. 🙂

I really want to see his expression when he sees me in my dress for the first time when I walk down the aisle towards him.  He agrees.  So I haven’t shown him my dress, veil, or anything I’ll be wearing.

@SoCoBlue: My husband had a certain idea in his mind about what brides are supposed to look like – you know, a big poofy princess ballgown, and it had to be in WHITE white.  No lace and no tulle either.  I’d frequently show him dresses, and I’d catch him watching SYTTD from afar, and muttering things under his breath about how weird certain dresses looked.

Anyway, I snuck in a few photos of models in the dresses I had already tried on, including the one I chose (I couldn’t help myself), and when we got to my dress, he makes a face and exclaims NO NO NO.  It wasn’t a ballgown, and more importantly, it wasn’t stark white.  Here’s that photo:

My heart just about dropped.  But then, a few weeks later, I found a photo online of a girl (about my height and stature) who had a wedding and she wore this dress – so I thought I’d sneak that in too.  He LOVED it and thought it was the most beautiful dress ever (not knowing that they were the same dress of course).

And then came our wedding day, the moment I was so anxious for, our first look:

That’s him saying “WOWWWW you look hot!” 🙂

So, I told that story because while I know we all want our SO to love our dress, sometimes they may not understand what’s going to look best on us.  Also remember, the model photos sometimes just don’t do the dress justice!  Have fun showing him photos, but don’t feel bad if he doesn’t love it on the model!

I did and he pretty much hated everything I liked (he thinks lace looks like doilies). He only liked the very ‘traidional’ looking gowns. So I ended getting what I like and hopefully he will like it! I never showed him a picture of mine though.

@SoCoBlue: Haha thanks, and when you choose your gown, so will you!  I love that last one btw! Simple and gorgeous!

@SoCoBlue: Well, when you see it on the model, shes like a size 2/4 and it’s a ballgown with a tulle layers bottom. And the way they have it steamed in the picture, it does. Mine lays A LOT more flat. So I hope he’ll love it.

I just got cable for the first time in my life and have been DVRing the crap out of Say Yes to the Dress, and I’ll ask him “what do you think of that dress?”  Sometimes he even offers unsolicited comments 🙂  I’ve also talked to him about the style of dress I like, and shown him some in magazines to gauge his reaction.  I haven’t tried anything on yet though, so I might stop once I do.  Maybe.

Fiance looked at tons of dresses with me online and in mags, thats how I decided what to try on. He even went to a bridal appointment with me once, and will likely go with me again. We generally shop for everything else together so why would a such a big purchase be any different? Plus I want him to love the dress. I dont care what anyone else thinks, as long as we both love it.

I showed Fiance a bunch of dresses I liked.  I think I showed him the dress I got once or twice before I tried it on and got it.  His response was the usual: “That’s nice.”  We have very different taste in dresses, but I know he’ll love the way I look when the day comes.
