Have any of you soldered your engagement ring and wedding band together? What was your experience and why did you go down that route?
I’ve searched some of the boards but they all seem to be really old! Is soldering your rings a really dated idea?
I’m considering soldering my rings together to minimize any problems from my ER being so thin and the wedding band rubbing against the other band or the prongs, I would love to see your soldered sets!

Best decision I ever made! Mine was a curved band and it looked so dumb when it spinned.

I am not a fan of soldering them together.

sharpshooter : Is that so you can wear them separately or do you have a specific reason against soldering?

I haven’t yet but plan to. My wedding band has diamonds 1/2 way around and it keeps spinning so the diamonds dont align with my engagement ring. Drives me nuts!

I had mine soldered. No regrets in…6 years. I have curved bands so it drove me crazy when they didn’t line up. Plus it’s just easier to grab one ring in the morning for me (I have two bands + ering).
I bought a totally different style, fun single band to wear if I don’t want to wear my actual ring. I wear that traveling etc.

Yep, had mine soldered together 2 years ago. Not a single regret so far. It really reduced the wear and tear on both rings by not allowing them to move freely against each other.
However, this was something I was always planning on doing. I also do not swap out my rings for any other ones, and do not use stand in rings either.

zzar45 : I definitely want the option to wear them separately.

zzar45 : I opted to solder my rings together to prevent my engagement ring from spinning. Also, the width of both rings in my bridal set was under 2 mm. I waited about 9 months after the wedding to be sure it’s what I wanted to do and it was the best decision I’ve made.

I had mine soldered a week or two after the wedding! I was already annoyed by the wedding band spinning, and I’m planning on wearing both forever. Why not have them attached?

I soldered mine and then had them unsoldered when I reset my ring. I actually prefer them to be separate now. Don’t know if I can give a definitive reason why…just a preference 🙂

When I first got my ring I didn’t have them soldered, but when I got the matching band then I had them soldered.

I would love to have mine soldered but since I did not buy both rings in the same jewelry store it wouldn’t work out. My engagement ring does not have a life time warranty but my wedding band does. So of course I can’t stick them together just in case one has a problem. Although I am annoyed when they spin together all the time and I constantly have to straight them out but it is what it is.

Excuse the horrible lighting. Yes I soldered mine together because I couldn’t stand mine spinning and having to remember to grab both in the morning. I never planned on wearing them separately as to me they are a set now even though I bought them separately.
