Oh yes. I know that since we are in our 30s, our metabolism isn’t what it used to be. Of course it took me til I was 30 to get serious about my health.

So I am running 3 to 5 days a week and watching what I am eating. I run/jog/walk anywhere between 2.5 to 4 miles each time. And I push myself to do better than the time before. I’m always setting small goals for me.

I know I am overweight and I know realistically I will never be a size 2. But I hope by July I am at the healthiest I have ever been and maybe a size or two smaller.

I have been trying to loose weight for years.. I’m about 5’6″ and weigh about 195. You would never really know it by looking at me I just carry most of my weight in my giant boobs (38DDD) I do tae kwon do 3 nights a week and either run or do the elliptical the other 3 days.Sunday is my day to relax 🙂 But if you have never tried it tae kwon do is super fun and it really tones your thighs and butt really fast. A quick exercise we do that will kill you is make almost a limbo bar about upper thigh level with your front facing the bar step over the bar as fast as you can without knocking into the bar. Do that for about 90 seconds. Then turn to the side and step over it that way for another 90 seconds. I promise you will find muscles in your legs that you didn’t know existed!

I HATE going to the gym, not working out, not sweating, none of that, just the fact that I have to leave my house and go there…so I looked online for a good, not enormous piece of cardio equipment that gives you the most bang for your buck…it’s a rowing machine…and I love it!

I can go downstairs, set up a movie on my ipad, start rowing and before I know it, the movie is over, I’m sweating, I used all of my major muscle groups and completed an hour and a half of cardio without leaving my house or killing my reconstructed knees..it’s a good thing.

@Lulume:  I am getting married in April 2013, and I gained some holiday weight, so I am definitely going to lose weight for the wedding. And I want to keep it off thereafter!

I am so tired of holiday food at this point. Too heavy and too filling. And I overdid it. Ugh.

I started eating lighter today. I have to get back on my treadmill and do some exercise videos too. Maybe I need to map out a plan.

By the way, 5′ 7 and 143 sounds ideal to me. You sound fit already.

Yeah, I am sick of the holiday food as well. I got like 5 canker sores from the excessive amount of sugar I ate!!!!!

I have been running 4x’s a week 3.5-5 miles, and lifting once a week, full body workout.

What I and my Fiance have found is it helps to sign up for a road race to really motivate us to get in shape. I am considering a hilly 10-miler the weekend after our wedding.

I’m a skinny bitch, so please don’t hate me, hahah.

I don’t need to lose any weight, but I want to have some nice and toned arms for my wedding.   I’m terrible with the gym, I HATE working out and I suck at it.  I have zero upper body strength, I can do mayyyyyybe three push-ups.   MAYBE.  Hahahaha.

Seriously though, the one thing that I have found that gets me motivated is Zumba.   I attend class 3 ish times a week, on top of another aerobics class called Kangoo.   If you do the moves properly, you burn a TON of calories, it’s great cardio, and really works your muscles, ALL your muscles.     I’m thin so I’m not moving a lot of weight around, and I burn like, a little over 400 calories in an intense hour of Zumba, but I know many ppl how get 800 or more calories in an hour of Zumba.   It’s suuuuuuper fun, and being in the class is really motivating.   I have the games for the Wii and those are pretty fun too, but not nearly as much as being in a class.

I’m training for my instructor’s license, my certification is on February 8th, I’m so excited!

I’ve been a runner for a few years now, just did the Disneyworld 1/2 marathon earlier this month.  But lately, not even that keeps the pudge off my belly.  Of course, it didn’t help that I totally slacked off my training and ate like teenage boy on a growth spurt all of December. I’m 5’11” and about 145.  I wish when I gained weight it would go somewhere like boobs or hips to give me some sort or curves, but nope.  Right to the belly and love handles.

I’ll be starting training for another 1/2 marathon (in April, the week before my wedding) in the next week or two.  In addition to running, I’ve been adding in strength training more.  I go to 24 fitness, and love the BodyPump class, which is organized weight lifting to fun music.  They’ve recently added a CXworks class that is core strength building.  LOTS of time spent in plank.  My abs have never been so sore!  I did a kickboxing class for the first time this past weekend.  I’m in pretty good shape, not many cardio classes challenge me too much, but this was intense.  I wanted to cry and throw up at the same time.  It was AWESOME! (Yes, I’m a bit of a sadist when it comes to exercise.)

I have a tendancy to start out strong, then slack off of my exercise regimes.  But I think I have the proper motivation to stay on it this time, and be looking good for my wedding day and honeymoon cruise.

I started my exercise routine in October 2011 and have gradually lost about 15lbs. Just doing fun classes like Zumba, Body Attach, Body Combat and Pilates have helped not just shift a bit of weight but just change my overall shape and definition. I’ll certainly be stepping it up a lot now that the wedding is actually on the horizon!

i’m starting on my ‘weight loss’ journey over the next few weeks.

i’ve signed up to do a ‘MICHELLE BRIDGES 12 WEEK BODY TRANSFORMATION’ which i am super pumped about.

at the moment i am doing 2 cardio sessions, 1 weights session and 1 pilates session each week, but i am trying to bump up my cardio and weights each week, but often can’t really get to it.

good luck to all you other ladies on your weightloss journey!

I joined the gym at my work because my new job has me sitting at a desk talking on the phone all day. I am used to clinic nursing and walking around being on my feet all day. I decided I needed to start getting serious about toning up. I weight the same as I did but with losing muscle mass etc after turning 30 I decided I wanted to feel good about myself again. So I joined a class at the gym that I have to pay extra for so I wouldn’t have excuses not to go. And I love it. I challenge myself 3 days a week to meet a new goal while working out. And on days my class is cancelled because of weather I still go to the gym and workout by myself. I’m toning up and feeling more confident. I didn’t start this because of my wedding but I’m happy that I will be in great shape for my wedding with hopefully some toned sexy arms and shoulders.

I am scared to tone up too much right now though. I bought my wedding dress at a sample sale and its just the right size, absolutely no alterations needed. My fear is that because its lace applique and if it needs to be taken in, things won’t look right with the lace. I guess I just need to keep going and whatever happens, happens

Exercise is hard for me because I’m limited due to health issues. Working out today could put me in a lot of pain for the next two, so I have to be careful. (Am I the only one on this board with endometriosis and adenomyosis?) Once the summer comes I will go back to swimming at my parents’ every day, since that is a good low-impact exercise that won’t make me suffer more.

I’ve put on a little weight over the last couple of years – nothing crazy, maybe 10 pounds max. I’m 5’7, and if I could lose 5ish pounds, I’d be happy. It’s more about the toning. I’m so glad my dress has sleeves, so I’m less worried about my upper arms!

I’m trying to walk a bit more, and I’ve replaced my morning snackfest with a homemade fruit smoothie (today is banana, kiwi, pineapple, almond milk, and flax seeds). I’m also trying to drink a lot more water, since it has so many benefits.

FH and I are trying to eat better, though with the wedding planning and my weirdo work hours, sometimes easier said than done. For example, I have appointments all afternoon, and so I have no idea what I will make for dinner – or if I’ll even be home for it! Yikes!

Working at home is a killer for fitness, too. There are too many distractions, and the kitchen is REALLY close to my desk! I bought a pedometer just to see how many steps I’m taking most days … not as many as I should!!

I started wanting to lose weight Jan 2012 because I knew I wanted to go dress shopping June 2012. I lost about 20 pounds (and gained about 10 back towards the end of 2012). Fast forward to Jan 2013 and I knew I needed to get back into shape. I am down almost 10 pounds and plan on losing about 5 more. I take my dog for 45 minutes walks as much as I can during the week. I also enjoy dance central which is a great workout.

Exercise asise, calorie counting is also something I do I stay in the 1200-1400 calorie range and have cut out a lot of sweets (my weakness) and alcohol almost completely.

Smoothies have become a huge part of my meals. Healthy and delicious 🙂

Good luck with your weight loss, I’m sure you’ll be able to do it.

Started my new workout last week. I will try to do it 6 days a week… mixture of weights, mat work and cardio. Takes just over an hour to do the whole thing.  I’m struggling a bit with the bike, rower, and leg press because of a previous sports injury though, so I might have to stop doing those bits. I definitely need to stop using the bike… today I got on the exercise bike to start my warmup, and I managed to dislocate first one kneecap and then the other within the first 20 seconds. It must just be that type of movement which does it… I can pop them back in easily enough, but it’s hardly ideal!
