i started working out right after i was engaged last june because i was uncomfortable with the weight i gained (i am 5’4 and i used to be around 125) so i am used to being small so i lost about 10-12 pounds with dedicated gym workouts and protein shakes to replenish my muscles after the workouts since i wanted to tone up. since then i have lost an additonally 5 pounds so i am good at the weight i am now which i think is 132. im still running and working out because i am training for a half marathon but i dont wanna lose weight. i really just want to tone my shoulders and back so that my top half looks flawless on my wedding day (i am so paranoid) lol.

I have issues with pain too. Not the same diagnosis as you but I have a lot of problems steming from the year I had cancer. I now have lumbar stenosis, siatica among other things but the stenosis and siatica are what I have problems with the most. It’s a catch 22 for me, I’m in pain if I don’t exercise but I’m in pain if I do (different kind of pain for each). So I just do what I can. I’m learning what exercises both me the most and when to not do them. The worst is when I work my legs and the next day my left leg is completely numb.

We can do it!! I’ve been off work the last few months so that’s been extremely helpful in getting myself to work out. I’m lazy, in general, so having the extra time helps get me going in the morning and to motivate.
Every person is different when it comes to exercise, but for the last 6 weeks, I’ve been going to the gym 3-4 times a week (40 min elliptical, ab workout, weight machines), and road running 2 times a week (at least 4 miles) with ab/arm workouts when I get home. And yoga once a week. I haven’t seen a ton of results but I’m feeling healthier which is good since I go back to work next week!

I am so mad at myself because I’ve slacked off so much with going to the gym. I’m thin, but I can see a few pounds appearing because my darn pants are starting to get tight!
I gain in the stomach. That’s my problem area. I’m very happy being a size 6, but I was down to a 4, and am still fitting in 4’s, but it just bothers me knowing I gained weight. Even though people say I look better, I have to think about how I feel about myself.
So since I’m off Monday, I’m taking my butt to the gym! I’d love to be 123lbs like I was on my wedding day, but right now I’d be happy with 127. I’m 5’8, so I know I shouldn’t be complaining, but I’ve always been obsessed with being thin, but in a healthy way.

Yes! I am doing CrossFit at least once a week (FI is a trainer for fun) and yoga 2-3 times a week. Running when it’s nice out.
Also, been eating the CrossFit zone diet. Blocks of food, no starches or sugar… 🙂

Yes… Fiance and I signed up for cross training in November and have been going three times a week ever since. It’s wonderul.

Trying so hard! I got an elliptical,off Craigslist. I have been using it in the morning for 30 minutes (300calories) as many times a week as I can handle. It usually ends up being 5 or 6 times 🙂 The only way can stick with a routine is ti do the oppostie of a “routine”. I have been going back and forth with wii gold’s gym cardio boxing, wii Zumba, wii just dance, Jillian michales 30 day shred and insanity. I plan on getting serious in June when I will be off work for summer. Our date is July 27th and I need to lose about 10 more total. I think it is totally possible. Just looking forward to spring so I can get outside a jog a little.

Trying hard too – free weights because to me arm fat is the stuff of nightmares and they have gone ‘sloppy’ lately. Hehehehe. Also static cycling a little each day and hoping for a difference. Sometimes i do about 5kms other times only about 3 or 4. But with watching what i eat I am hoping it will yield results. If all else fails I might go the water aerobics route. I am just aiming to drop a dress size and look closer to what I did when I was 27. I certainly have time though, let’s hope I can stick with it 🙂

Have you tried Crossfit/Powerfit? It is tough no question about that but it works and within a few weeks (approx 4) you will start to see muscle tone and changes especially in the thighs, stomach and arms. They often offer bootcamps for brides too. I go three times a week for an hour or so at a time. They dedicate time to showing you what to do and encouraging you throughout the experience. You aren’t left to fend for yourself at all.
I don’t like gyms either. I am very active and between Powerfit and my grueling volleyball schedule I manage to stay busy but I’m always trying to tone up and lose a few pounds. If you have the dedication required Powerfit is a great way to get the results you are looking for before your wedding.

I signed up for a 15k to get my ass running. I’ve amped up workout to 5x’s a week and I don’t hate it! Running is the only thing that helps me lose weight (gotta get my heart rate above 160!)
Also, I am 29.5 but I identify more with you 30+ ladies 🙂

Yeah.. it is pretty thin for my height, but I feel so good at that weight. I haven’t toned up all week due to house hunting & I swear the stress is making me feel so fatigue all the time.
I promised myself I will go to the gym every day I can after work this week, which is Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday. I’m going to do the treadmill for 1 hour and some weights for the next hour. I’m with you in that I see such a difference when I run.

I have a lot of weight to lose, and a little less than 2 years before my wedding. So I’m really hoping I can lose a lot. I work next to a 3.5 mile lake, so I walk or jog the lake almost every day. I also have zumba dvd’s for the weekend and do yoga dvd’s 4-5 days a week.

I’ve been on a diet for years, and in a serious way since October. Low calories, gym 5+ times a week… the lot.
So far, I’ve lost a grand total of… 1lb.

I didn’t read all of the comments, so I don’t know if someone already said this, but I love doing online yoga. I use the site, myyogaonline.com, but there are lots of similar sites. I’m already really athletic (I rock climb or ski 3-6x a week), but doing yoga everyday has helped tone my thighs. I do it for at least 30 minutes when I wake up every morning, and it puts me in a great mood and makes me feel good. Smaller thighs are just a bonus.
