@raziel1687:  same here. I haven’t had one UTI since solely using the POM.

@AB Bride:  I have kidney issues so any kind of condom will increase chances to get an infection.

@PetuniaPie:  I’m never heard of condoms in generally increasing the risk of a UTI.  I have kidney issues too, but as far as I can tell I’ve never had a UTI because of sex/condoms.

We only use pom…  been almost two years with no issues.    if I was sleeping with someone who I didn’t see a future with I’d surely make him wear a condom.   We want kids (ideally not for a few years)  but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if it happened on mistake.

I like going at it more than once, and so have most of my long term partners, so pull-out alone has never been a practical option for myself.

Also, I’m pretty into feeling him not pull out.

We only used the POM (along with avoiding fertile days) when we considered ourselves NTNP. It worked for us, but I didn’t consider it protection per se. We weren’t trying for a child, we preferred to wait– HOWEVER, we did want children in the somewhat near future, and we would have been able to support a child at that point.

Actually, the fact that it worked so well made me worry a little now that we’re TTC. I don’t know if it was simply effective or if I’ve got any issues down there. We did have a couple slip-ups, never got pregnant. But I would not point to my experience and say that POM is an effective method, and I would not recommend it unless you are prepared for the possibility of getting pregnant.

I guess the same goes for any birth control method, since none of them are foolproof, but the chance for human error entering the equation just seems so much higher with POM than with any others. It depends on the guy being able to know his body really well, and having the self control to pull out at the right moment.

I have been using BCP and condoms with my SO, and he also pulls out with the condom on (I am super paranoid about getting pregnant). We decided we’re going to wait until marriage to stop using condoms. although, we’ll still use bcp and the pull out method until we’re ready for a baby

@firefliesinthesky:  I feel the same way you do! We’ve been using POM during the FW (I chart, so I know when I’m going to O) for about a year now. And we tend to be intimate a fair amount during the FW, so I’ve had the same “Oh crap! What if we’re going to have problems when we actually TTC!”

My husband and I exclusively use the POM method. We used condoms for about the first year, but after that, not really anymore. He’s never had problems with timing, and I’ve never had any real scares. There have been moments where I was convinced I was pregnant based on symptoms, but I too have PCOS, and the “symptoms” I was feeling were never any different than shitty PMS symptoms and late AF from the syndrome.

This is probably really weird but we do this almost all the time, even though I’m on the pill. We hate using condoms and I just get scared that the pill isn’t 100% effective and it is so not the right time in our lives to have a baby, thank you very much! Regardless of contraception, I don’t really see a problem with how you get there (O), as long as you do! 🙂

We used it almost the entire time we were together, about 4.5 years now. I didn’t want to take bc pills and we find that condoms tend to dry me out down there quickly. He has to really know himself for it to work. I haven’t gotten pregnant yet, but we had 2 incidents of maybe pregnant. Not because he didn’t pull out in time but because my periods were late and there’s always a possibility of pregnancy with the pull out method. Nowadays we use a condom when he’s close to finishing.

… I would never consider doing pull-out (non) “method” as a form of birth control.

Pulling out, is simply not jizzing inside. I don’t consider it a method for anything other than a position to cum in.

The first time I tried this method with an ex I got pregnant, lol. So I’m a little biased on the “it’s effective” argument. I don’t know why I listened to his ass and stopped using condoms.

I did and my husband (then BF) decided to not pull out. Well, we have a beautiful 2 year old daughter and I am on Mirena. Now we don’t pull out anymore because of the bc. Before mommy and daddy time I check and make sure my mirena is properly lodged and we are good to go lol. I have 6 years left of college so I can not imagine doing it with 2 children.
