- Wedding: September 2015 - Hotel Ballroom
I got married September 2015 in a hotel ballroom. The hotel is actually in the same city I live in (albeit the other side). Sometimes I toy around with the idea of DH and I booking a room there or going for dinner in their restaraunt (maybe for an anniversary). Has anyone else visited their wedding venue after the fact? Why or why not?
To add: I remember when I was a kid my parents driving past the restaraunt they got married in…it it had REALLY gone downhill and depressed them somewhat. The plan was for us to go inside for lunch until they saw the sad state of the grounds and building…we didn’t even get out of the car after they sat in the parking lot for a few minutes in stunned silence.

Our reception was at a resturant in my hometown. For our first anniversary, I wanted to have dinner there and maybe stay at the same hotel we did on our wedding night. My plans weren’t going to work out because now we have two weddings to go to that weekend. So, I decided we should go some other weekend that month. Well, turns out that the resturant closed at the end of last year. It is reopening as something else, but will be a way different style/casual. I’m really sad. I can’t believe that they closed- they were so amazing to work with for our wedding, and everyone loved the food!

not yet, but will at some point. We got married in a museum and it will be a cool place to take little kids to check out but since we’ve already seen all of the exhibits ourselves we haven’t gone back. We’ve driven past it plenty of times though!

Not yet because our ceremony site is under 4 feet of snow right now and the restaurant where we had dinner is closed for the winter. It is one of our favorite restaurants though so we will definitely be back.

Never. And we’ve been married almost 40 years.
It was at a Hilton Hotel ballroom; since it was local and we don’t need local hotel rooms, that’s probably the reason. We’ve driven by it hundreds of times, though.

yes, once. we went for coffee and dessert at a place were we had one of our dates in the beginning of our relationship. our wedding venue was not too far away and it was a surprisingly nice day out, so we walked over and walked around.

Yes. We were married at an old hunting lodge for the Tulsa oil barons turned wedding venue.
DH planned a beautiful first anniversary celebration that included dinner at the restaurant that catered our wedding, and cupcakes from our cake baker in our cake flavors. He had the cupcakes delivered to our wedding venue, which he had rented for a couple of hours on a Sunday night. We sat under the stars on the porch and watched the sunset. Then we danced to our first dance song.
It was such a beautiful, romantic evening, made a little bittersweet because all of this happened the night before our actual anniversary – and on the morning of our anniversary, DH had an early flight out to start a new job in a new state and we lived apart for most of Sept-Nov.

Our package includes a night stay and a meal on our first anniversary so that’ll be nice 🙂

My package includes a night stay on our first anniversary, but we also generally love the hotel restaurant (breakfast in particular) and go there quite frequently.

We moved to a new state right after the wedding so no opportunities to go see our venue again. I’d love to go back and maybe take some anniversary pictures though.

Our package came with an aniversary meal so we went back for that. It was really lovely to go back and talk about it. The venue hadnt changed at all so it was just like we remebered it

No but only because we had a Destination Wedding in Puerto Rico. It was beautiful though…got married at a hotel right on the beach. It was one of the best trips of our lives (and not just because we got married there). We do plan on going back there to celebrate our anniverssary somewhere down the line. Like maybe our 5-year.

Not yet but we probably will as we got married at a bar/music venue.

Ours was sold after our teception was there and went from being a Mexican Restaurant to now, an upscale hamburger joint.
We still go every year on our anniversary.
