I don’t think tables or chairs are going to matter as much to you down the road as the memories you’ll make on an amazing honeymoon!

Honeymoon! We’re hoping to do this. We’re having 2 ceremonies (one in April and one in September – different cultures) that we’re being super careful with money on (and accepting all help offered lol) with the hopes we will have enough for our dream honeymoon which is currently a secret haha. Good luck!

As long as you are skimping to the point that it will negatively impact your guests (cutting back on food or drink, fewer chairs then people, etc) then I think it would be fine to put the money towards the honeymoon.

    Honeymoon, without a doubt! A wedding’s just a day, a honeymoon can become a dream trip. 🙂

Do you really want to go to Europe? If that’s been your dream, then heck yes go for it. If you’re just making a minor upgrade to the honeymoon (say if Mexico and Europe rank equally for you) I’d splurge on a massage in Mexico or an all-inclusive resort and upgrade a few of the wedding things. Or even just save the money! Obviously, you’re going to remember both, but I wouldn’t spend money on a trip unless it was a total dream of mine.

@mcj040916:  that depends, how long is your honeymoon? 1 wk, 2 wk or more?  if you only have 1 week, then don’t waste your money on europe. you won’t have enough time there.  think about length of flight there and back and jetlag.   if you have more than 2 weeks for your hm then yes to europe.  if you have less than 2 weeks, then go to a resort in mexico but upgrade to an adults only, all-inclusive, with concierge service and room service all day.

Honeymoon, definitely. This is what we’re doing-having a small, simple wedding and putting the extra funds towards our honeymoon. We love to travel though.

We upgraded our linens. The day after the wedding I was hounding all my friends and family members for photos of the reception space so I could make sure they actually gave us the upgraded linens that I paid for because guess what, I DIDN’T EVEN NOTICE!! Which means, none of your guests will notice either. Go for the honeymoon!
