@mishelleez: Make him watch Say Yes to the Dress, then he’ll see that people other than celebs pay much much more for a dress.

My dress was about $730….with veil, shoes and other stuff it came to around $1,000

For three dresses you spent $1,100 and you’re Fiance is upset? He’s crazy! hah

One dress bride for $550 from $1700.  I think it all depends on your budget.  our budget is 7500 so 550 was reasonable

Multi-dress bride here also, I spent $1000 total.  My FH was very good about the cost, he told me “I don’t care how much you spend, you will only get to wear a wedding dress once.”  He is so sweet…. and he knows me very well, he knows that I would rather have 20 pairs of shoes than spend $6000 on a dress, LOL.

I’m a 2 dress bride…I got a great deal and spent 1340.00 for a Maggie & Mori Lee bridal gown….MY FI’s “budget” for me was like $500.00….but he was j/k…I think.  He was actually pretty funny about it too….b/c he would make comments when we would see the DB commercials advertising the 99 dress sale and he would say something like you could have bought 13 dresses!!!!

And this is why my Fiance does not know and never will know how much my dress cost! I saved for a year to buy my dress (which cost a month’s salary), and I’m incredibly proud that I did that – it’s my money, I’ll spend it how I please. My friends expect a certain level of style from me, and it was important to me that I deliver that. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t read Vogue, so I felt it was worth it to have the most beautiful dress I possible could.

I don’t expect a straight man to understand – he thinks that £200 is a reasonable amount to spend on a games console. I think my life is, and always has been, complete without games consoles, and that’s an obscene amount to spend on a totally frivolous device. (My Kenwood Chef, however, is a totally justified and sensible purchase ;p)

I really think there are some things that men should never know, and the cost of your wedding dress is one of them!

Mine was $1200…It certainly seems like you got a good deal, most guys have no clue about the cost of clothes in general!

I think the perspective on this depends a LOT on what your total wedding budget is! For example, if your total wedding budget is $5000, then yeah, $1100 is going to seem like a pretty sizeable chunk to spend on a dress (or 3 dresses). But if your total wedding spending is $50,000, suddenly $1100 seems like chump change. 🙂

I bought the sample dress at the salon and got it for $920.  If we had ordered it, it would have been $1200.

I think he’s crazy! That’s a very good price for 3 dresses, I spent more than that just on one dress!
