So I’m having a really really hard time making a decision and TELLING the girls which dress line I’ve chosen. The dresses don’t have to match in style but the designer & fabric will be the same.
I’m afraid that one of them will hate the dress and be mad at me (Mostly worried about my passive agressive sisters who will talk about me behind my back)
I’m afraid I’ll change my mind.
I know I have to do this soon, I just can’t bring myself to send the email saying ‘this is the one’
Here’s what we’re debating between. Top Row – Mori Lee Affairs in Black Lace, Bottom Row – Alfred Sung in Black Dupioni.

Choose the dress you like and don’t worry about what they think. It is just a dress- they wear it once, and no one is going to get hurt. They might not love it, but they will get by.
As for which line that completely depends on your dress.

I think the lace dress is more likely to be worn again. Have you seen the dresses in person?

Go with whichever one you like better! I think there are pros and cons to each.
Pros for lace: more likely to be worn again
Pros for the other ones: more likely to flatter all different body types

@MsGinkgo: Considering you’re already allowing them to pick their own dress, I don’t think you have anything to worry about!
I voted for the lace because, like PPs have said, it’s more rewearable. But honestly, I think your BMs are lucky that you picked short, black dresses. There’s nothing more rewearable in my book. I’ve been stuck with way worse dresses (I’ve never been allowed to pick my own style).

To be honest, when narrowing down dresses, I asked everyone what they wanted. I got a corus of “It’s your day, what do you want?” back. GRRR, so frustrating! If you have a favorite, say it, and most likely, everyone will nod and be cool.
I still have one bridesmaid that wants me to decide every detail for them. I hate uncomfortable shoes, so I’m letting the girls pick out those so they have something that they can walk and be comfrotable in. She wants me to find a pair for her that I like. And for hair, I really don’t care what it looks like (other than nice), but I am paying for it to be done. I figure that all 4 of them are 27+ at time of wedding, so know how they look good. Once agian, one of them really wants me to decide.

@Misswhowedding: this is EXACTLY what I’m dealing with. I really really don’t care. My requirements are/were purple shoes – that I did pick and told them to buy (they were $59 a pair, pretty darn reasonable & no one – except my sister – complained). The dresses, have to be black, short, same designer & fabric – didn’t care. They want me to pick, I ask for their input and all i get it ‘whatever you want’ and that drives me NUTS!

@Westwood: I have seen them in person, I’m leaning towards the lace. It’s really pretty and looked great on my sister who has a hard to fit body type

@MsGinkgo: If you dont care if they’re matching, then why dont you let each of them pick what they want?

@allyfally: they can pick whichever style but i want the fabric to match. I don’t like the completely mismatchy look. I debated mixing the lace and dupioni and I don’t think i’ll like that. I just have to make a decision because they won’t decide themselves and then they can pick their dresses from the line.

@MsGinkgo: Are they giving you trouble about which fabric they want?
If I were you, I’d pick the lace and tell them to pick out of the 3 which they want. I just like the look of lace better personally.

I would pick the top ones, only because I have tried on a lot of Alfred Sung dresses, and the fit is very odd. Often the bodices feel too long, and the proportions are all funky. My friend was set on them, but we just couldn’t find any from Alfred Sung that actually looked nice on a real person.

My MoH had a similar Alfred Sung dress and it did photograph a little shiny, just FYI. I’m almost positive it was that same material. (The wind was also not doing us any favors, lol.)

@MsGinkgo: The lace ones are lovely!! Tell them what you want – I think you are being wonderful to them in allowing them to pick their style!! Think of yourself as the leader!! lol !!

@MsGinkgo: My girls wore the alfred sung dresses and loved them. They each did what you are allowing, picking their own styles. I chose royal. This is what it looked like.
