I think it is great. You haven’t had your honeymoon yet and you can do it (the Vow renewal) and then you are already IN your honeymoon. Totally tasteful

This is what I did and it was the best decision I ever made. I was soooo happy I did it rather than listening to everyone else talk about how dumb it was since we had only been married 5 years. DO it!

I think it is a great idea – DH and I are renewing our vows in Hawaii this year on our 3rd wedding anniversary

@lindseyl06:  I’m in the same exact boat as you.  I wanted a Destination (preferably a cruise) wedding and due to my FI’s family’s ability to travel we are having a big (200 guest) traditional wedding that is way more expensive and stressful than I ever wanted this to be.

I’m hoping to do my dream wedding at our 5 year anniversary as we are going on a honeymoon right after the wedding.

I would strongly recommend Secret’s or Excellence resorts over Sandals.  My mother is a travel agent that specializes in these resorts and she’s had so many bad experiences with clients with Sandals that she strongly urges against it.  If you read the reviews on Trip Advisor, many of the resorts haven’t been updated and they aren’t as highly rated as some of the other resorts.

My FI’s dream honeymoon was Sandals’ St. Lucia but after comparing all 3 of those resorts to my choice of Secret’s Maroma beach not only in reviews but in price, we booked Secret’s.  For the same nights (8), in the same type of room (swim out suite), Sandals wanted over $7k which was almost $3k more than what we’re getting at Secrets for a higher rated resort.

Do it!!  I’m in the same boat and a year later I still believe that not fighting harder for my already planned, already made deposits and already sent Save the dates Destination Wedding wedding instead of giving in to DH’s family is one of the biggest regrets in my life. Not one single day goes by that I don’t think about the wedding that I feel was taken away from me. The only thing that makes me feel better is the thought of a vow renewal just the two of us on a beach. DH knows that I want it bad and is onboard. So go for it!!!!
