So our central air was working fine until last night. I noticed it was barely blowing out any cold air so I asked Fiance to and check things out in the basement/outside. Last year we had issues with it freezing and we had an HVAC guy out here that replaced some coil for $800 and that fixed that issue! Well, he noticed the pipe going into the unit downstairs was frozen so we shut it off the night and went to bed. This morning, we tried to start it back up again and it won’t even turn on! Same goes for the fan, but the fan will go on if we turn the heat on. I’m stressing on because we can’t afford another huge bill especially a couple months before the wedding and of course it’s going to be 90 today! 🙁 any suggestions???

I don’t have any suggestions, but I feel your pain!! We bought our house last summer and the air conditioner had a leak. The coil that you had to pay for was the A coil, and we just replaced ours as well a couple of weeks ago to fix the leak. Now our air isn’t working anymore either!!! Just like yours the air that’s coming out of the vents isn’t cold like it should be. Even more confusing is that we have 2 HVAC guys in our family (SIL dad and my dad) and both of them have been trying to figure out what it is. Ugh. Gotta love sleeping in the basement because the bedroom is 94*!

@ruby26: Did they recharge your A/C when they fixed the leak? If it’s low on freon the air won’t blow cold.
@FutureMrs86: Unfortunately this doesn’t sound like something you’d be able to fix on your own, but I’m really really surprised by how high your bill was! In the 4 years I’ve worked for my company I’ve never seen a bill that high for an A/C repair. It’s usually between $150-$300. (One to two hours of labor at $105.95/hr plus parts.)

@MissBoPeep: I didnt’ think it was 🙁 Well I think it had something to do with it being ” prime time season” lol. heat waves and everything so most of it was labor. I’m just hoping this is an easy fix and doesn’t cost us a ton of money 🙁 it made me nervous that it won’t ven turn on now after it’s been working just fine!
