could you have your horse bring you to the door? like walk you down the street to the church….

I can’t imagine a church that would allow a horse inside

Would Fiance be ok with a priest outside or it has to be an actual church?

Yeah, probably not going to get a horse into a church. I agree with the PP, ride him to the door and keep him available for pics.

Hi @dancer17: I see this is your DEBUT Post on WBee, so a BIG Welcome to “the Hive”

Catholics are very strict on what constitutes a “consecrated holy place” where the Sacrament of Marriage can be taken.

See this link = http://www.catholicweddinghelp.com/questions/outdoor-wedding.htm

And I can assure you that NO Catholic Church I know of is going to allow a horse within their “House of Worship”

( sorry )

PS… An outdoor wedding with your Horse would be beautiful…

Google Images = Bride with a Horse = https://www.google.ca/search?q=bride+with+a+horse&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=GptgUoXqNoWQyAHCj4CgAQ&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=610&dpr=1

BUT it ultimately means you are going to end up having a non-catholic ceremony…

Nothing wrong with that per se when there is an Interfaith Couple marrying…

BUT as you say, your Fiance (and his family) might not be too pleased with that, as then the Sacrament of Marriage wouldn’t be consecrated by the Holy Catholic Church

Looks like you guys have a lot to talk about / work thru

I wish you Luck

I would try to find a priest willing to do a Catholic ceremony outside… maybe some sort of holy outdoor place? I love the idea of your horse walking you down the aisle. I wish my horse could be at my wedding, but he spooks quite easily, including very often at the wind. So that’s not something I could risk.

if you do get your way and have an outdoor wedding, rethink your train situation. idk if you have a dress or if your dress even has a train but id be afraid of having him step on it and RIP! i had also thought about having my horse in my wedding at some point, but mine would probably poop on his way down the aisle. lol he’s always awesome at doing that at the perfect time.

so im doing a photo shoot after my wedding during the summer once he sheds out again and is all that pretty golden color. then i dont have to worry about him ruining anything. if i some how rip my dress on him the wedding is already over so it wont be that big of a deal.

that may be a good option for you as well to have a photo shoot with you and your horse after the wedding at some point….. plus gives you another reason to wear your dress lol

@langloiswedding2013:  What an awesome idea for a Photo Shoot… not your usual “Trash the Dress” after the Wedding Photo Session, but still an awesome one.

@dancer17:  Tell your Fiance that if he follows the same Omnipresent God that I follow, that He is EVERYWHERE, whether you get married in a church or in a field. It can still be a religious ceremony and God will STILL be there. By the Bible’s definition, a building does NOT make the church. A group of people gathering together to worship makes the church, whether its in a basement, in a car, in an alley, in a field… anywhere. If you are gathering together, it is a church, and God is there. I think you should try and have your ceremony outside. I think the horse thing is UBER special.
