I’ve seen many, many wonderful dresses over the years but this one has stayed in mind for years, and when my friend (she runs a wedding dress/tailoring business) asked me what kind of dress I was looking for, I simply pulled out the picture and said “This!” and she was excited to see it too, saying it is perfect for my body type.
We went to pick out the material yesterday and once she takes my measurements she’ll get started on it.
Are you going to wear/ did you wear a custom-made dress? Pics please!!!
On a side note, I have no idea whom it’s by- I did that Google images search thing but not sure if the designer is “Christian” Somebody, or that was just the name of the website….

@Asichka: WOW really a dress made by a friend? Hello. jealous! 😀 That sounds amazing!

That dress is amazing!
I am having my mother’s dress redesigned. It is insane to sit around waiting for your dress, without any idea how it is really going to turn out. However, the nervies go away when I tell myself that everything can be changed.

@pengoala: Haha. It’s not going to be free, but she promised to give me a discount. She had to wait to see the dress style and for me to pick the material and embellishments before she could give me the total bill….. Still waiting for it
@ApocalypseCow: Indeed! But “sit around waiting”? Not me- I’ll be ever getting under her feet wanting to see what it looks like so far lol!

That sounds very sweet and sentimental. I hope everything is to your liking. Lucky gal!

Not having a friend do it, but I’m making my own dress. My body type is ususual, and I had that “YOU. DRESS. GET ON MY BODY RIGHT NOW.” feeling about a discontinued design.

Very pretty dress!
And I wish I wasn’t totally hopeless in the sewing arena – would love to make my own clothes all the time, let alone wedding dress! 🙂 I categorize making clothing patterns & sewing with other things I’ve deemed impossibly difficult, like writing music (especially jazz piano), beyond-high-school-math, etc. 😛

@missfroggy: Thanks 🙂
@Bracelet00: Ooooh- skills haha!
@ChicFoodist: I’m the kind of person who’ll let a tear grow and grow until I need to get rid of the item (or if I love it too much take it to a tailor). I know the basics of sewing, but I hate doing it.

I was until my friend bailed. 🙁
I really hope it works out exactly to plan.
To all my fellow brides – best wishes.
