Hmmm… 700 seems quit expensive but the convenience of it seems good.  Is the chapel pretty?  Were you thinking maybe of having it outside?

We are paying $500 to get married at our venue, but the ceremony will last 30 minutes. If it were me I would fork over the $700 because I would want it to be in a separate room… but if that doesn’t matter to you then save the money and do it in the same room! Maybe you can negotiate a lower price since the time is so short??

To use the space at my venue for the ceremony and reception was $3000 + the catering bill, which was about $150 per person plus tax and service. The $3000 site fee includes both the ceremony on the beach or rooftop and the pavilion for the reception. But seriously. $3000.

For my first wedding, we got married in a church and the total fees were something like $1200.

So you can pay $700 and have a site for over 6 hours?  That’s an awesome deal!  Do you like the space?

we’re paying $500 for a ceremony fee….that helps cover set up and take down and the time that we are using it for….we are having it at a golf club, and we aren’t paying extra for the reception room…..

I did my ceremony and reception in the same place and our guests LOVED it! The staff just moved one of the tables back a bit to make a bigger dance floor. It was so convienent too- no traveling between sites/waiting for hours in between wedding and reception, etc. If you can make it work, go for it. I’ve been to a handful of weddings that are held all in one location.

You may only be in the room for 15 minutes, but the venue cannot use it for most of the day. It has to be clean and set up for you and then has to be broken down after.

I have been to a wedding were guests were seated where they would eat dinner and then teh bride and groom were wed in the front and center of the room. It was okay, but it was kind of hard to see from where I was and it seemed a bit unorganized. But, you know, it’s your $700, so do what feels right to you.

These things are USUALLY negotiable.

Our venue has everything in one place – but of course, for a price

In addition to the overall venue price there was:

$350 for the ceremony

$300 for use of the art gallery for the cocktail hour

$250 for use of the space on Friday (for early set up and rehearsal)

I ended up negotiating the Friday access for free by writing up my budget (divided in to categories) and showing her what I was and was not willing/able to pay for.  Its worth a try!
