I am the most indecisive person but I have finally found my perfect ring setting and stone shape. Now I’m doubting how big of a stone I should get. I was interested in a 1.5ct 8×6 oval moissanite but I fear it will look to big or like costume jewelry. I have looked at a bunch of other bee’s posts with the same problem but they have confused me more than they have helped.
i tried using the Diamb.com site to compare the rings on my finger size and the change in size looked so minimal compared to change in size I see in photos and videos which can look drastic. I tried on a 2ct oval diamond at Kays and it looked so small and CZs in most stores don’t give the mm size so it’s hard to estimate.
I’m getting the setting eng017 from moissaniteco and I wear a size 8.5
1ct 7×5 oval moissanites look pretty large so I’m starting to lean more towards that but I’m scared of being disappointed when I get it. I also really don’t want to see the diamond “collar” around it from the top view which I’ve seen in similar settings when they have 1cts such as eng222c. https://www.instagram.com/p/BSJ894aBni2/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1e3llm47ujyo3
If anyone has had a similar problem let me know what you chose and if you had any regrets. Also if anyone has ovals in either 7×5 or 8×6 I would love to see them. Pics from a distance and close up would be great to get a better idea of size.

Rings always look so much bigger in pictures then they do in real life. I wear an ‘8’ and a 2 carat on my finger looks like how a 1 carat looks on a size 4 finger. You have to keep that in mind as the average size finger is around a 6.5 and stones may look larger on other people’s pics & images. I would suggest ordering a $10 CZ off of ebay or go to a store and try some things on. There are always tables at Macy’s or Kohl’s that have engagement style CZ’s that you can try on to get a better idea of what the size will look like on your finger. Other considerations are solitaires versus a 3-stone or halo which will add more finger coverage and probably wouldn’t require a larger stone.

Keep in mind that that 2ct stone may have been bottom heavy, and all of the weight of the stone wasn’t in the table. With a measured stone, 8×6 or 7×5 you are really going to get those dimensions across the top of the table.
Just for a little bit of fun, I thought I’d lay it out for you design wise… and the graphic is crazy tiny. So I thought you might want to see it in print form instead.
The circle on the outside should be the size of US Dime. You can see them side by side for comparison, and also the one inside the other.
You could also be as insane as I am and print two copies and put both on your finger to see which will look better!

I haven’t voted, but I have a 7×5 MoCo moissanite. The ring is a size 5 but I wear a 4.5. I know it’s quite a bit smaller than your finger, but maybe it will help.

Mines a 5 x 7 diamond on a size 6. I think I might go up to a 6 x 8 but wouldn’t do any larger, for sure. In general I’m very pleased with the size. I think the band is 2.5mm?

Here is a shot of both the 7×5 and 8×6 on my roughly 5.5 size finger. There is a big difference size wise. These are both C&C stones. The 8×6 is a Forever Brilliant, the 7×5 is a Forever One near colorless. I chose the 8×6, and I will put more pics of it for you alone. I got my pics mixed up, the pic with both sizes is last.
