So, we are already thinking of going to Hawaii next year in the fall/winter IF finances allow it. We are not taking a honeymoon right after our wedding, so are thinking of a week just before xmas, just Fiance and myslef.
I have been looking online, and it overwhelms me all the different islands and places and areas of Hawaii.
Advise on best areas, or things not to miss?

What kind of vacation do you usually like? Active/adventuring, checking out the night life, or just lounging?

We like exploring some, we are not crazy adventerous though, so maybe a combo of loungy and slightly active?

We went to Kauai and Maui and loved both islands. Kauai is the most tropical/untouched and definitely more what you think of Hawaii as. We stayed in the southern part of the island but I would have preferred the Hanalei area. FYI the island shuts down at night. Maui was gorgeous as well (staying at the Four Seasons helped). Def have to do the Road to Hana if you go to Maui.

Thanks! It all looks so gorgeous, I’d be hard pressed to pick just one area to focus on without some insight.

I’ve been to Maui a lot, and I think it would be right up your alley. The road to Hana and the seven sacred pools are great for seeing some tropical beauty and exploring a bit, but there are plenty of resorts/condos to come back to and lounge in comfort. You can spend an afternoon wandering around Lahaina looking at the shops and the enormous banyan tree, and catch a luau in the evening.

Look into Kauai. We went there for our honeymoon and it was a wonderful mix of relaxation and adventure. Lots to do, especially if you appreciate nature. It was super mellow, gorgeous, and romantic.

Oahu!!!! I loved it! It has pearl harbor and the bunkers on the cliffs, North shore (famous surf sight and beautiful!), Waikiki and lots of great shopping and the beaches, ATV and Horse trails where they filmed jurassic park and 50 first dates, and sooo much more! i loooooved it! Driving around the whole Island is (if I remember) 2 or 3 hours. I also recomend the Paradise Cove Luau…so good!
